Have to say I think Doyle has been off the boil recently and his distribution has been poor at times. Can’t see why having younger in there would harm anything. If only everyone thought the same re “taking no comfort”!! Some of our fans can’t wait and seem to revel in failure. Waiting to have a dig at something. My glass is half full. Always. As soon as it’s half empty, I’ll have to reconsider my choice between season card or golf club membership (the ultimatum my wife provided when we got married)

Really hope Johnson can turn it around. I like the bloke. He talks some **** (as do I!!) but I like his ideas and positivity. I’m also sick of trying the “sack him and start again” which hasn’t worked at all so far. Agree with @Smug in Boots, if we’d started like this he’d be gone.

To have had the entire place buzzing as it was and getting to where we are now where a very vocal number of people are asking for him sacked in 4 weeks is crazy.

But we are Sunderland I suppose! It’s what we do

Agree Dan Neil is the obvious one for picking up on him, kids an outlet, should have scored 2 last night with his runs, that will come if we see him.....plus if other side's, less so at this level pick up & follow the runs.....what space does he open for others.

Training ground, week & half, pass move, pull players around, a behind closed doors / against U23s, whatever, should have done this since last Rotherham & played kids/thosing needing game time last 2 games.....need to be back on it for Ipswich & get going again

Not sure if this has been mentioned but I thought it was tremendous that the u23 coaches were involved last night. A great way to get everyone closer and on the same page. Well done to Johnson on that, I can imagine many coaches wouldnt do that. These sorts of things can go under the radar when the performances are poor but I think it is a sign of a forward thinking and innovative setup.

See West Ham have been kicked out of the comp as they fielded an ineligible player.
They were also fined £10,000 and Ipswich and Colchester will therefore go into the next round.
