Another cracking thread RTB. Fancy this will be a close game. As others have said be interesting to see how they react to the manager leaving. They have scored in every away game this season so I’m going for a home win 3-1.
Tough game this despite their position, I’d have Djaku in ahead of AOB but only because I think he’s a level above. Home win but not an easy one.
Well once again I will go against the majority and say we will hammer them. 5-0 with 5 different scorers. Possibly the same in the 2nd half. No manager, up against a team who, apart from the blip of the Pompey game, are flying and full of confidence. 30000 passionate fans giving their all I expect the lads to do their bit and get another early goal. I expect them to crumble and the mighty SAFC to rip them apart. As is the norm RTB a cracking thread.
another great thread by RTB thanks for your effort mate, i envisage another 4 goals and think Charlton may scrape one. looking forward to this one the twats hurt me when we lost in the playoffs and ive never forgiven them, so a big score for us could ease that pain
Reckon it will be the same team as Tuesday but with Dajaku in for Prtchard, who might still be a bit sore. If Pritchard is fit it will likely be unchanged.
RTB superb again mate - thanks. Interesting to know whether the players were with Adkins or not. Could just easily be them moping about as fired up. Anyway it is much more about us than them. Some of our quality on the ball is extraordinary and if we play our game I fancy us always. Hoping Pritchard is fit because without Embo we need that genuine 10 and he was very good in midweek. I would love to see O'Brien bag and be a hero in front of the home fans. He is as unselfish a player as you will see. He is not a technician like those we all love but he cares as much as anyone and he is like that on pitch minder I always remember when I was a kid playing mens football. He just is there for you and happy for you and looks a great character.
Amazing that it's Friday tomorrow and the eve of another important game. In all honesty I don't give a monkey's if Charlton have sacked the manager. found Viking gold under the centre spot or found their keeper hanging out the back of the tea lady in the boardroom ... ... this is a home game against a poor team and our record at the SOL means we should beat them. There were signs, on Tuesday, that the players are trusting each other, the system and the manager. Our full backs still need to stop the wide players progressing but that's the most difficult thing to do in this league imo. As we showed at Gillingham we're finding ways to dig in, regain a hold on the game and score when we're behind. The Crewe game showed we've realised that it's better to keep looking for goals than sitting back on a narrow lead. I think it's incredible that we have players like Dajaku on the bench but, for the moment, I'd keep him there and bring him on if we can get ahead or desperate. I'd also love to see Wearne come on, in front of 30,000, to see how he can handle it. I suspect very well tbh. McGeady would benefit from a goal, even if it's from a free kick or penalty. But, like a few others, I'd like to see O'Brien smash in a screamer and hear the crowd sing his name. Haway the Lads, 3-0 and a great display.
Aye nothing to fear from a ****e team who just sacked a ****e manager, they aren't going to turn into Barcelona overnight even if they want to prove a point about Adkins. Our lads will be confident, they'll be set up to attack and we're going to score a few. Hoffman will turn down any goal requests from them.
Definitely won't be moping! Great thread, and however the game goes I think you'll be surprised at the level of support the team gets from the away fans, which will make it a great occasion. Basically all I want to see is a bit of fight from Charlton, and a team which competes for 90 minutes, not 20 or 30 as we have been doing this season.
I echo this under Adkins we were At least with Jackson we should have a bit more fight in us. You’re flying though so I expect a home win.
I'd have much preferred Adkins to have been sacked next week. Strange things happen sometimes when Managers leave and a caretaker takes over. Having said that,we are playing well, are brimful of confidence and, when we're like that, the big crowd (relatively, for this division) becomes an inspiration. These players aren't playing with any fear...they all want the ball...even someone like AoB,who has taken his share of stick from fans in the past, seems rejuvenated in this set up. If Pritch is fit and O9 is managing that shoulder,I'm expecting an unchanged line-up,Dajaku on the bench with the other young lads, ready to open the game up later on. Charlton are a good club,we've locked horns with them a few times. Looking forward to this match.
Absolutely agree. You learn more about a team from a defeat than you do from a win. Luckily we’ve done it right and come back flying
It’s that Friday feeling, end of the week and your team are about to entertain you and win another game. I am not used to this sort of a Friday yet.
For the last few years I've sometimes been pleased I've been working or too far away to go on match days ... ... now I'm disappointed when I can't make it and jealous of those who can. There were glimpses of real football at Crewe. If was amazing to see, at 3-0 up and the game won, two players busting a gut to keep up with Dajaku ... ... there's been times they wouldn't have done that if we were one nil down. Sad but true
Irrespective of Adkins getting the push I'm feeling confident and going for 3_0.to the lads Please don't expect this level of optimism from me next Saturday!!! HTL
