Nah, if I was trying to depress you I would remind you of the state of our defense. But I didn’t do that so there is no reason for you to go and get all depressed on us!
Thanks again RTB for setting the scene for our final throw of the dice before the season kicks off. Team line up looks OK, but I would like to see us try a back three and anybody other than lack of will, Grigg up front, he is really holding us back imo. OaU
Great thread again RTB! It'll be good to see the likes of Embleton, Neil, Doyle and Younger against much tougher opposition. If they can all come through this with credit, they can cement their places on the team sheet for the big kick off and beyond. Think a cagey 1-1. Would like to see Stewart score to build confidence ahead of the season opener.
The way he's being bigged up is starting to worry me tbh ... ... if he starts the season he'll be under pressure to be better than Burge which I don't believe he currently is. If he starts badly it could create a big problem for us.
On the other hand I hope that if he doesn't start well we get behind him and don't criticise him for every little mistake. He's young for a keeper and may need time to settle.
Lol Burge looks like he’s never played in goal in his life. Patterson is ten times the keeper he is and i would be delighted to see him start over him.
Out early doors this afternoon me. Making the most of it. Only a friendly but been ages since it's been a match day when we are allowed back into the stadium. Be a proper test for our depleted squad mind.
A win would be nice but don’t really care about the result. Main things for me are that the team play well and keep up the high press and passing game we’ve seen in parts. Also hoping that the fans don’t get on anybody’s back in a friendly! I’m sure they won’t but spending too much time on Twitter and RTG hasn’t convinced me they won’t. Hope everybody who can go enjoys it tonight. Been too long.
congratulations on winning the "Stupidest comment of the week" award, against some stern opposition it must be said.
He's just after starting another argument and derailing another match thread mate. Then he'll claim he's being bullied 'just for giving his opinion'. It's so predictable and tedious, best ignored tbh.
I think they'll have a full team out and be right up for it. The season starts very soon, this is important for their manager's plans and players will want to nail down a place.
They played 2 friendlies at the weekend and with a mix of youth and first teamers so that the main squad could have 60+ minutes each. I dont expect them to have many U23s playing tonight.
Burge was a major part of a Sunderland team that conceded the third fewest goals in the 3rd division last season, not bad for a player who looks like he's never played the game before don't you think? All of this behind an unsettled defence for most of the season.
This, we could try just getting behind the lad, and maybe with a couple of clean sheets he'll grow in confidence. Good luck to the lad, amazing what a good defence can do for a keeper, and vice versa.
