They will concentrate on the failures first, probably how many and list the years before saying "finally". Saying that, the Champagne was still fizzing when the 7 o'clock news and sport came on talkSPORT last night... were we mentioned? Not once. So outs better than nowt.
Thing I liked about Geads yesterday was even though he was getting little joy out wide he drifted inside a lot and it was from that position he created the goal. You could see he was getting frustrated when his step overs and tricks out wide weren't coming off but he persevered and ended up with a sublime match winning pass. Top player using all his experience.
Said for a long time that McGeady would be more effective playing central, behind a front man, but Parkinson wouldn't listen.
You and I both said the same. Weren’t worried when McLaughlin left. Finally seeing what I thought we did early doors.
Parkinson said he was a disruptive influence and made out he wasn't really part of the team. The daft thing is some of us, me included believed it. What a difference a good manager makes he looks like he is loving playing, which he wasn't before he was frozen out (part fo the reason it was easy to believe Parkinson).
Parkinson thought he was best served playing keeps ups with the u 23s!! Lots of humble pie being eaten on this forum (me included)
He was excellent yesterday, hasn't had much to do recently so been hard to judge. But he was a commanding presence in the box and got to everything in the air. Him and O'Nien are given the opposition very little.
I also think he would gladly have Luke O'Nein's babies as well as he has been so complimentary of him
Aye couple games he filled in he was immaculate, maybe just hit a bit of pressure being first choice, but recently he’s got great command I think. Even the one he dropped yesterday, his reaction and focus to recover was exceptional. Im comfortable with him.
As usual I was too tense to watch the match properly but I've just seen it back on the EFL Quest thingy. After the comments yesterday I was expecting us to be rubbish with a moment of class ... ... we weren't. It wasn't our best game but we had more shots and possession than Tranmere who weren't any better than us.
My lucky black cat must of been as pìssed, celebrated as much as us. Found him half asleep in the airing cupboard
Tranmere looked good enough for League One. Scandal how they were relegated and good luck to them getting back up. They had a go, and they had a couple dangerous and quick players. Lads coped well. Loved some of Luke’s ‘pipe and slippers’ defending just casually taking a touch in the box and playing out. Some say Franco Baresi was watching and nodding.
A good write up in the Echo. How many people were doing just this shouting at the tv - I was and got told by both the wife and step son that they couldn't hear me - they were wrong though! The screams of ‘get out’ as Sunderland inevitably are pushed deeper and deeper, the hands pushed together in prayer, though you have no idea exactly who you hope is listening. Roar at the dugout and tell them to change it, because it’s something to do and that helps with the utter helplessness. The fist pumps and glances at the watch when Diamond is brought down and you have a minute to tell yourself to calm down and grow up, for god’s sake. https://www.sunderlandecho.com/spor...-it-wasnt-quite-how-anyone-dreamed-it-3165868
Can you imagine it under Stuart Donald? The players would have all had to pay for their own bus fare!
Lee Johnson said pre match Tranmere were flying and although a division below, probably good enough for top ten in league 1. They pressed us first half and defended well so I agree there. But we are top three and thankfully have the ability in individual players like mcgeady to turn it on. Gooch was quiet but showed pace and composure when it mattered. Marvelous
Thing is we did improve for a while when geads was left out so it was plausible. Especially after the McDonald'sgate lol. Water under the bridge now. All's going well, just hope we don't miss out on promotion.
Was just reading that Papa John's in Sunderland ran out of pizza yesterday, must have made a fortune, they aren't exactly cheap in terms of pizza.
I don't think he dropped it. He realised he was heading back over the line so deliberately put it down to stop it going over the line as fa goal and then swivelling round to recover it.
