No surprise with nobody in our squad who can score goals we huff and we puff but nobody can find the final ball to create chances . We might as well not have corners because we seldom cause problems let alone score - welcome to Sunderland Mr Johnson you have a job on - all SAFC supporters know how difficult a job you have taken on . Statistics don’t win games ,goals do !
4th club he's managed. In the first 5 each at the other three (15 total) he'd only lost 1 or 2 games in total. This makes it 2 in 16!
Yet we still took Graeme on as a striker when he had scored 3 goals in about 200 games come on you have to laugh.
It is clear we are lethargic when we attack - too many sideways and pass backs - suggest a complete lack of confidence Our passing at times is simply atrocious and our crossing - how many times do we hit the first man I will always try to be optimistic but it is bloody difficult and Johnson must realise this is no small task. easier to turn the Ark Royal in a cul-de-sac
Spot on... the midfielders in open play and the defenders when they go up for free kick etc are more likely to score than our misnamed 'strikers' unless a miracle happens and their abilities/form changes quickly... we just have to dump them and bring in replacements
Can we afford not to, certainly one of them needs to go urgently, why we bought Danny Boy is unfathomable and he needs to go asp. but its going to cost us either way
wow, i never would have guessed, many thanks for pointing this out to me, i feel sooooo much better about losing, at home, to the bottom team, who have not won in forever, while trying to 'impress' our new manager/coach/whatever his job description. somehow we managed THREE shots on target just let that sink in...new formation, new players, new manager, new ideas i would still expect a far better return from a squad of players used to being on the pitch together...and i doubt very much that LJ came in yesterday and immediately sat them all down and told them to go out and play completely differently, LJ wanted to see how the team performed first hand and i am pretty sure the 'real' changes will start to show next week, but that does not change how dire that team was today.
Thought it was an unusual step to go in to the dug out so quickly having so little knowledge or contact with the players , he would have been better in the stand where he could have seen us in all our glory-or not . Will be interesting to see how many of the starting eleven are still here this time next year or should I say in the team as some of them will be difficult to move out . I think he will have to show little mercy in his dealings with a lot of them who we know are not up to standard , you have a massive rebuild to face and hopes of promotion are already fading . Best of luck and welcome to SAFC .
Completely different interview than Parky. I think he has realised quite quickly we are fairly **** especially going forward
I was just about to post similar. For all I'm gutted at getting beat, that interview is quite unlike the vast majority of the post match 'usual' bullshit spouted by managers in previous years. Far more tactical and analytical of the performance and deficiencies in the team. He will be on the phone to Speakman all night lining deals up for Jan (I hope)
