Just back in - as my mate said, Martin has ripped the heart out of the Club. There was an air of inevitability about the outcome - I’ve never seen the fans so disillusioned. A couple near us left as soon as Boro took the lead. This is a photo taken in the 90th minute:
I see Bony's lad got a 1st half hat trick for the U18s in a 4-3 away win at Watford. Glad someone knows where the net is.
People are voting with their feet. The sad part is the apathy ….. some fans are so disillusioned that they no longer seem to care. There is no pace and no width in the team - Martin has got rid of it all. 3 wins in 22 games, 20 of which were in the Championship 5 clean sheets from the last 35 in all competitions Surely, enough is enough
I’m one of the disillusioned. I was think of going down for the Bristol game but I’m buggered if I’m going to waste the best part of £150 on that ****e.
I have been to very few games this season, saw enough last season of where this game of Russeo is going, since we came down from the Prem, we have sold off everything of value in the squad, even talent coming through the academy has been sold for profit, leaving the squad not only threadbare but with no quality to write home about, our boardroom has no ambition whatsoever, only skimming the profits, but with gate receipts now starting to look ropey, we could well be starting a very slippery slope..........
Home gates are now about 6000 down on average, and that will get worse, at the beginning of the season the club offered me a season ticket for £250, and I still couldn't be motivated to buy after last season, We are now as much a sorry mess on the pitch as we are off it..........
The size of the gate yesterday benefitted from c2,000 Boro fans. The actual gate was way below the 17,000 announced during the second half. As I’ve mentioned before - and I had it confirmed/corroborated by someone working in the stadium yesterday - there were fewer than 9,000 in the ground for the Rotherham match…. I think it will get worse with this guy in charge - unless he changes his ways….. leopards and spots spring to mind
Makes you wonder when the next win is going to come, two big games in April, away to Wigan followed by a home game against Huddersfield.
WIGAN ATHLETIC CONFIRM DELAY IN MEETING WAGE OBLIGATIONS Wigan Athletic confirm delay in wage payments after liquidity issues EFL aware of current situation and the Club has taken steps to rectify situation moving forward Club emphasises financial strength of ownership group who are committed to the Club. Wigan Athletic can confirm that there has been a delay in meeting wage obligations. Whilst responding to media speculation is not typical of the Club's standard approach, we would like to assure stakeholders that this is a temporary matter which is promptly being resolved. The Club has been disrupted by recent liquidity issues and this continues to be the case, hence the current situation. The Club wants to emphasise that the financial strength of our ownership group remains robust and they are committed to supporting the Club. The EFL is aware of the current situation and the Club will continue to work closely with them to ensure that all outstanding wage amounts are paid. The Club has already taken steps to rectify the situation and will ensure that wage payments are made promptly going forward. It is hoped that this statement does, at the very least, clarify the current funding situation, rather than question the financial strength of the Club. Wigan Athletic understands the sensitivity of this matter and would like to thank staff, players and fans for their patience. The focus is now firmly on Saturday's Championship fixture with Burnley and the remainder of the Championship season. The Club will make no further comment until it feels necessary.
