Ford left The Swans' in 1947, so it's not him in the photograph. I think that could be the regular goalkeeper Johnny King sitting between Harry and Ivor. I vaguely remember they experimented with King at centre forward, so the five seated, would be the forward line. I thought it could have been Des Palmer initially, but my money is on King. No idea who that goalkeeper is. Mel Charles injured probably. Arthur Willis partnered Alf Ramsey at full back for England in 1951. Great old photograph though. Any more ?
Vetch - in my haste, I wrote down 6 players sitting, when there are only 5! I typed Johnny King as it is 100% him playing Centre Forward - must have looked at the photo, saw a resemblance to Ford so wrote his name as well as Johnny King who, as we both agree, it is
Good old Herbie. He had the unenviable task of taking over Ivor's role when he left for Newcastle. Herbie was so good, he slotted in seamlessly.
Forest hold Brentford to a draw. Well done them. Presumably the Brentford faithful are looking at ways to blame The Swans for dropping two points.
We seem to f@@k up when results go our way, need to break the hoodoo. Another hoodoo to break...... the double. History not in our favour, fingers crossed!
