Swansea City v Luton Town Competition - Sky Bet Championship Venue - Liberty Stadium Kick off - 12.30 Date - 27 June 2020 Following their impressive 3-0 victory away at the Riverside against Middlesbrough, next up for Steve Cooper’s Swansea squad is a home match against relegation threatened Luton. Against Boro, Andre Ayew caused Jonathan Woodgate's side all sorts of problems and his powerful run produced the opener on 18 minutes as he picked out a perfect cross for Brewster, who slotted home through the legs of goalkeeper Dejan Stojanovic. That lead was doubled three minutes later as Brewster volleyed into the net via the ground after Kalulu's cross, a fine finish to complete a sweeping Swans attack. Steve Cooper's side were rampant and when Friend clipped Gallagher in the box on 32 minutes, Ayew calmly dispatched the penalty to make it 3-0 and cap a brilliant individual display. A superb first half performance by the Swans was only tarnished by Kalulu's wild, head-high lunge on Hayden Coulson, which saw him receive just a yellow card, though it could easily have been red. On the same day, substitute Callum McManaman's fine late strike earned struggling Luton Town a draw with play-off hopefuls Preston North End in Nathan Jones' first game back in charge at Kenilworth Road. Former Wigan winger McManaman found the top corner with a unstoppable shot from the edge of the box with the home side's first effort on target. Up until then Preston had been the better team on the return of Championship football behind closed doors, deservedly going ahead when Tom Barkhuizen got the better of Martin Cranie and fed Scott Sinclair, who was allowed to move inside and sidefoot into the far corner. But it was Luton who looked most likely to find a stoppage-time winner, Ryan Tunnicliffe curling just over Declan Rudd's goal from long range. The result left Luton at the foot of the table, 5pts adrift of Boro in 21st spot. Turning to Saturday, victory would certainly maintain the Swans play-off hopes but Luton will certainly be desperate for the points. Ominously for the Swans, Stoke’s first win of the season came at the Liberty - when current Luton boss Nathan Jones was in charge of the Potters. Nevertheless, I still expect a home victory: 3-1 to the Swans
Luton need wins at this point, and I think that will suit us as they won't just be sitting back trying to get a 0-0. As long as we score first I think it will be a victory by 2 or 3 goals. If they score first then it could be a long boring afternoon.
Looking forward to the game and although already pointed out it won’t be easy but play with the freedom and movement as seen certainly in the 1st half v Middlesbrough then I’m predicting not exactly a riot but a good win for us
Another three points on Saturday would be handy and as already been stated an early goal for us would put us in pole. position as a draw is no good to the Hatters. Our attack is strong and will hopefully be on fire. Byers has alluded to the fact that many of our players have played at an empty Liberty Stadium so are used to the lack of atmosphere. I hope he is going to walk the walk and not just talk the talk. 3 nil to us.
I would say we have a 70% chance of getting 3 points. 20% chance of 1 point. And 10% chance of losing.
What if they score first? ........ Well the Swans have gained 17 points coming from behind this Season, Not many clubs have managed that. So if they score first, I expect the Swans to come from behind and win ................ 3 - 1.
Self-isolating on the dhow is getting a bit tedious tbh. The Nile is a bit of a COVID hotspot. Setting sail for Luxor tomorrow for a change of scenery
Then we bring on our substitutes, as they have scored 9 times this season. ....... So we score a third. Now don't bloody ask me if they score a third. , !!!!!
