We’re joking to have to join griffin park.org we will have a lovely time. Even got my username sorted.
Is that down to your location? With me being on the South Coast, I’m hoping I might get away with it.
Warnock is football's equivalent of the naughty little boy who was indulged and never reined in. His actions and outbursts have, down the years, gotten out of hand, but remarkably, he is still getting away with it. I compare him nowadays to the ' village idiot ' who can do, and say, whatever he wants, because the football authorities fear a backlash were they to try and bring him to heel. His constant sniping and vociferous attacks on match officials, opposition players, management and their family members, etc. are, to borrow his word, quite " embarrassing ". Everything is " embarrassing " in his eyes, except his appalling behaviour. Just how far can he go before people say ' enough is enough ' ? Some of the scenes of him in people's faces at The Liberty were unbelievable. I suspect most of us have a soft spot for the person who is a little bit on the wrong side, has a twinkle in his eye to accompany the tongue in his cheek, but Warnock has gone way beyond that now. He should be ashamed of himself.
Warnock was manager of Sheffield Utd when we played them in the FA cup some years ago at Bramall Lane...we were in league one and they were premiership....our side included a few reserves due to injuries and suspensions and as they do now he played a plethora of 5heir reserves who should still have been too good for little old Swansea. As it was we thrashed them by three goals deservedly so although Neil had nothing good to say about us instead complaining that he had to play the game without using his first team...and we had a penalty too...he is not a nice man and as Libertarian states he has got away with it over the years..pity
I remember that game very well. I didn't see it though, being 3000+ miles away, deep in the African bush. I was sipping a locally brewed gin, sitting under a baobab tree, enjoying the warmth, and peace. Suddenly, a local appeared with his little radio glued to his ear. He sat by me, and we looked at each other. " It's football " , he said, " from London. " I nodded, knowingly. I bought him a gin, and he grinned at me. " Who's playing ", I asked, assuming it was Man Utd., Arsenal, or Liverpool. These three being the most popular football teams in those parts, at the time. " It's Swarzee ", he said. " Who ", I replied. " Swarzee ", he said betwern gin sips. " Right, Swarzee, Swaziland. Who are they playing ? " " No Swaziland, Swarzee, England, London ", he said, his voice getting higher due his inability to get this stupid white man to understand him. Not wishing to exacerbate his irritation, I accepted the radio from him, and put it to my ear. Swarzee were indeed playing. It was Sheffield United v Swarzee, sorry, Swansea, on BBC World Service, and I was able to listen to the closing stages. 3-0 it ended up in Swarzee's favour, and I do believe Britton scored, although by then the gin was reacting with the sun, so I could have imagined that. The little man and I had regular gin drinking sessions on subsequent Saturdays, but no more was to be heard of Swarzee, until they reached the promised land, by which time I had garnered many new Swarzee fans to my bosom. Happy days in the African sun. I do miss it so.
Do you know if there is one of those alternative commentary videos for this game. It would be the best match for it....
