Swansea City v Nottingham Forest Competition - FA Cup, Round Four Venue - The Liberty Stadium Date - 23 January 2021 Kick off - 15:00 Following their workmanlike 2-0 away victory over Stevenage in Round Three, the reward for Steve Cooper’s Swansea squad is a home draw in Round Four against fellow Championship team, Nottingham Forest - with the prospect of a (probable) home match in Round Five against Manchester City the attractive incentive for the winners. With Tuesday’s match at Ewood Park called off due to a waterlogged pitch, the Swans last played last Saturday - a welcome break for the squad - when they recorded a disciplined 2-0 victory at Barnsley The Swans took the lead on the stroke of half-time with their first effort on goal as Ben Cabango's looping header from a long throw crept in. Barnsley then gifted the Swans a second on 55 minutes when Mads Anderson and Michael Helik got in each others' way and allowed Jamal Lowe to run clear and slot home. Nottingham Forest played on Wednesday evening when they lost 1-2 at home to Middlesbrough. Britt Assombalonga put Boro ahead from close range, finding the net with a low, first-time finish from Jonny Howson's pass. The visitors doubled their lead on the counter-attack soon after the break when George Saville calmly slipped the ball past keeper Brice Samba as he raced through one-on-one. Forest finally rallied late on, scoring with their first attempt on target when Loic Mbe Soh headed in his first senior goal from Joe Lolley's delightful cross. But they could not find an equaliser and a miserable evening was completed by Yuri Ribeiro's 97th-minute red card after appearing to stamp on Saville. Forest had been unbeaten in six league games and had been steadily improving under Chris Hughton, who replaced Sabri Lamouchi in October after a run of six defeats from seven, but the defeat dropped them to 20th place in the table, 5pts above the relegation zone. The Swans have played Forest on 66 previous occasions, winning 24, losing 26 and drawing 16. Without doubt, the most memorable fixture was: Turning to Saturday, I would not be surprised to see Cooper make a number of changes to the starting line-up including giving a debut to new loan signing Connor Hourihane. Whilst a home draw against Citeh is extremely attractive, without doubt promotion is the principal objective, so I would expect Cooper to make changes. Similarly for Forest, retaining their Championship place is their key objective, so I anticipate that Houghton will make changes as well. On that basis, I would still expect Cooper’s men to win: 2-1 to the Swans
Hopefully not too many changes ' a loss wouldn't be the biggest upset as the league is our target this year, that saying a winning mentality is one you don't want to lose (pun very much intended).
That was an amazing night - as you say, the atmosphere was just electric. video is ruined by that ****ty song though - the commentary is much better.
If that goal had been scored by some big name player, statues would have been erected, and commemorative stamps issued.
Yes I can get BBC1 Wales and no, I'm not a virgin. Saying that I've been married a while, so as good as these days
Thanks Taff.......Swans should win this as we are home and the crowd would be behind us....by two clear goals
"Ryan Bennett is in contention to return from a hamstring injury for tomorrow" is it just me but when you read that I think geez louise we've got so many good options at the back
