it's making me realise that supporting a football team is a mental illness.

I think if it happened prior to Covid it wouldn't be so bad. But since we've been locked down there has been little distraction.

I think it's complicated the process too.... the end result will be what makes it worthwhile or not .. if it goes through it'll seem worth it , but I dread to think otherwise

It'll probably drag on til September, we'll spend nothing because the takeover is "happening", go into next season with the same ****e squad and get relegated

    Agree

lockdown is the longest I’ve gone not watching a match live. And I’ve been really relaxed and my quality of life hasn’t been better.

in a way I’m dreading the football starting as it’s a point of anxiety for me.

It'll be good if the takeover goes through. If it doesn't though I'd rather it just didn't return

Sounds like that is what Richard Masters has been negotiating. If thst is true it says to me that the PL want the deal, have provisionally passed it, but want the Qatari's on board.

Hopefully he's indicated to the Qataris that they'll pass the deal regardless

I can’t see bein negotiating a deal for the Saudis to win the geopolitics war on this matter.

I can see him saying there is no (current) legal reason to stop the takeover to them and that there is nothing he can do to stop it.

Also I don’t know what the rules are on broadcasting rights but they are two separate counties so can they not just arrange a new broadcasting deal with saudi which won’t affect bein anyways?

they will likely tweak the current deal so that, say the qataris contribution drops from £500m to £300m and the Saudis pay £300m too But have the rights to Saudi, UAE and one or two other countries. Qataris save money, rights issue sorted and the PL clubs get £5m more each.

    All parties effectively winning.

if masters has spoken to the Qataris then the deal is likely going to be passed. There is no way, if the PL was thinking of blocking it that they’d breach confidentiality (their own rules remember) and let it be known they involved a third party in the process. This would open themselves up to all kinds of legal problems.

elsewhere it looks like kashoggi’s ‘wife’ isn’t his wife after all but his partner. There are rumours surfacing too that she is a Turkish spy. This clearly adds another political dimension to things given she hasn’t objected to the other businesses KSA have bought into...

Rumour is that is exactly what will happen. Masters has allegedly in talks to resolve the dispute. That says its approved.
