Well I get back from the land of tea and water on Wednesday so anytime after that will do me fine bit selfish but hey ho KTF come on
I have them mate and they've really choked me up. I loved that man and will never forget him. Wonderful days out on the horse and cart around Consett, Delves Lane, Leadgate and sometimes Iveston. Thanks so much.
A few posters on here with a Consett link. I was born in Consett. A couple of memories with the Consett branch - anyone else on these trips Bristol Rovers away - the bus broke down and we were stuck outside Eastville stadium Cardiff away - the infamous trip Boro away - the day Joe Bolton got sent off and there was hell on in the ground Nice to see so many fans from Consett - most of my mates were on the dark side
I live in Crookhall, just down from Consett AFC. Been here 5 and a half years, having lived in Washington for 40 years. I love it up here.
Lived all my life in Stanley but played in the Consett Sunday Lge from 1980-1995 for Stanley Central then retired to take up reffing there.
What do you two Gents mean about your attitudes changed? I'm guessing because you moved away, seen a few things, broadened your minds?
That's all it is, once you see things you can't unsee them. I still think of the NE as 'home' and love the people but I'd struggle to live there. I left nearly 60 years ago so myself, and the place, will have changed, I prefer to keep my rose tinted ideas of how it is.
I was born in Shotley Bridge hospital, my uncle lives in Crookhall and my dad is in Delves Lane. I’m now sadly exiled in the midlands but love visiting home when I get the chance.
Houghton born and bred, left yonks ago, love coming back to visit, but as Smug says, couldn't live back there. After i'm finished in the Middle East its off to South Africa....can't wait.
Pretty much what Smug said. I want to remember Sunderland and Durham how I left them in 1984 as a seventeen year old.
I had the misfortune of moving to Coventry with my folks when I was 8, my heart is still in Boldon Colliery but all my family live down here. As I have no family left in the NE whenever I get back for a game I have to stay at a hotel, it didn't stop me having a season ticket for the SOL but travelling up so often is a bit too knackering these days. I will never class Coventry as my home and but for wife, sons and grandkids I would move up to Whitburn.
