This may be controversial to some . . . . A mate of mine is fecking sick of tarts commentating/reporting on football matches, and worse still some of them are fickos like some of the male commentators ! This is equality gone fecking mad, he believes, and a particularly bad one is the Scouse girl on Sky whose appearance is obviously to attract other girls, who, also obviously, hasn't got a clue about football and just repeats phrases that she's heard men mention. Like Merson and a few others on Sky, and the likes of Ian Wright and Martin Keown on BBC, there seems to be a growing number of fickos in the studios, too, and as far as I'm concerned if they can't be bothered to talk properly I can't be bothered to listen to the fick twats (he said) Fickos and girls commentating are spoiling the enjoyment, which is a concern for when we get back to the top league because if any of our games are live on Sky (or any channel) and they choose a girl commentator or a ficko I'd rather watch on a dodgy box/stick listening to Danny & Frankie 'cos it's just fecking stupidly annoying He quite fancied watching Luton at Chelski this afternoon, but couldn't 'cos the co-commentator was a girl who was also a ficko I wonder if any of you have any mates like this, whose views might be shared by quite a few
As long as someone is knowledgeable and actually offers something decent to match day view experience then I really don’t care who they are. My old man doesn’t like women’s football, I say that’s fine, just don't watch it, problem solved.
Tbh the commentators matter very very little to me. I don't really listen to Michael owen, shearer, leon osman, garth crooks, and a canny few others. I saw Karen carney got pelters for her commentary in the Chelsea game today but again, I don't watch the match because of the commentators. One of the most cringeworthy things is the martin tyler 'and it's live' bollocks and he's been in the he donkeys years. Chris Kamara is great but not really a commentator as such but has decent crack imo.
I've got nowt against lasses being pundits, presenters or co commentators as long as they know their stuff. I draw the line at being the main commentator though. Nowt sexist, their voices just don't suit it. Whenever there's a big chance or whatever and they try to convey excitement it just sounds like a screech. I mean, a lass doing the "agueerrrooo" bit would make my ears bleed. Plenty male commentators are completely ****e, but at least their voices suit it (in the main)
Flip it round a bit and people like Kate Adie and Alex Crawford are unbelievable reporters going into places that most wouldn't dare. There are strengths in all of us
Not bothered about gender or race so long as they are knowledgeable, engaging and not boring. There’s a lass who commentates on the cricket who I don’t mind listening to. My favourite pundit is Ugo Monye who covers the rugby on BT Sport, I think he’s great.
Anyone who won’t watch a match because a woman is commentating is a ****ing idiot. Says more about them than the actual person commentating imho.
I’d rather not listen to the women. The reason being I’ve watched these blokes play footy and can relate to some of their stories, female football doesn’t interest me in the slightest. They need to make their own history and build their own crowds not hijack ours.
If the women commentators are stupid and do not know about football.. get rid of them... similar to some old farts of players who are giggling morons and need binning.. Not sure gender matters for commentators like almost every other job, its ability to do the work that counts.
All very forced tbh and the BBC are by far the worst for it. I’m not bothered if they are knowledgable, but 9 times out of 10 they aren’t. It’s just a another box ticked to appease the offended by everything parade though.
Isn't it just the case that sky sports is crap? The BBC are the boys and there's the ****ers hat to laugh at?
