I recall a night match at Blackpool around that time when Elliott seemed to have about three touches during the entire match and scored two goals to see us win. One of them was fired in from the inside left channel from 15 yards, it might be the hardest struck shot I’ve ever witnessed.
Always liked him. I'm sure if you asked him he would not have taken the Palace job if he could do it all again. Sometimes manager fits a club and he did ours.
Wasn't the Blackpool game played over the chrimbo period? I could be wrong about that....Their pitch was like a cabbage patch. The ball never ran true so we never got any moves going. Still we won 2-0 despite the playing surface.
Former Hull City boss Peter Taylor is back in football management. The 69-year-old has taken over as boss at non-league Maldon & Tiptree. Maldon and Tiptree ply their trade in the eighth-tier of English football. They currently sit third from bottom in the Isthmian North Division with just three wins from their opening 17 games.
Sounds like a posh pub in some lovely Berkshire village or somewhere. 'I say woman. I'm just off to the Maldon and Tiptree for a swift one...'
Maldon is way too close to Chelmsford to be considered posh although marginally better than Southend I suppose.
