Too early for a match thread but dooes anyone think we should change the starting 11 on Saturday? I'm assuming Gaston and Gardos wont be fit so pretty much the same squad although I'd be temmpted to give Mcqueen a go agead of Isgrove.I'd also give Long a start to see how he and Pelle work together. Forster Clyne Fonte Maya Bertrand Vic Morgan JWP Tadic Pelle Long Subs KD Stephens Jos Davis Cork Taider Mcqueen
Forster Clyne Fonte Maya Bertrand Wanyama Morgan JWP Tadic Pelle Ramirez Subs: Davis Hooveld Targett Davies Taider Isgrove Long
Two people for dropping Davis then. Not me. He's still one of our most solid and consistent players and I think he'll bounce back from one below par performance (I wouldn't even call it a poor performance because he did a lot right too). I would stick with the same team tbh. I certainly wouldn't be starting Gaston as he wasn't even on the bench yesterday. IF I were to drop Davis it would be for Long but like I said, I would stick with the same team.
Forster Clyne Fonte Yoshida Bertrand Wanyama Ward-Prowse Schneiderlin Tadic Pelle Long Gardos instead of Yoshida if he's available.
Forster Clyne Fonte Maya Bertrand Wanyama Morgan Long JWP Tadic Pelle Simple Long in, Davis out for me. Possibly swap Tadic to the right for more link up play with Clyne and Long to the left.
Same team for me....if Gaston is fit he could maybe replace Isgrove on the bench, but to drop Davis after one below par performance at Anfield in the first game of a new season seems a little harsh on one of our most consistent performers for the last 2 years.. Was also wondering whats the story with Boruc?...unless he is injured there should be no reason why he is not on the bench instead of KD...love KD to bits but he scares me when we play against teams that are going to park the bus and try to counter attack.
For me it's not about dropping Davis due to Sunday but rather bringing in Long as he poses more of an attacking threat and should be better acquainted with the team. Would like to see him start and wouldn't drop any of the others. Before yesterday would have played Davis central and JWP on the bench but not anymore.
Not quite relevant, but Taider has scored for Saints U21 in a 1-1 draw with Fulham. Another name in the hat.
All I can say is a month ago who thought we would have this much of a dilema on who to drop. I would stick with the same team. Bring Long on earlier, change formation slightly when he comes on as feel wasted out of left/right.
Would certainly like to see Taider off the bench at some point during the game. Have an Italian football journalist friend who said he was awesome at Bologna but never quite fitted into the Inter midfield. Should prove to be a decent signing for us.
I'd drop Davis as well. Really doesn't offer that much attacking wise. Gaston in for him if fit. If not Long in.
I disagree. I didn't see the Liverpool game but last season he was a key figure in our attacking line. Not as spectacular as other players but really links our midfield to attack very well. I'd like him to keep his place.
Gardos starts for me. He was in training last week so he should be fit enough by the weekend, even though Maya did okay yesterday. - - - - - - - Forster- - - - - - - - - - Clyne - Fonte - Gardos - Bertrand - - - - - - -Wanyama- - - - - - - - - - - - - Morgan - - - JWP - - - - - - - - - - Tadic - Pelle - Long - - - - - - - I didn't want to drop Davis but playing him on the wing is a bit of a waste, but then I couldn't drop any of the three midfielders for him. If we had another good winger it would be Long instead of Pelle and a proper winger on the wing.
