Brendan Rodgers has said the team need to play with more intensity, play higher pressure and defend more aggressively Hallelujah a competent manager
Yep. Every week he said we needed needed to play with more 'intensiteeee'. Hopefully, Brendan actually has a plan of how we'll actually do it !
Rodgers mostly played a 4-2-3-1 at Celtic like we do so can't see him changing from that - most likely will play both Ndidi and Mendy which everyone enjoyed under Puel... Have a bad feeling that there might be a recall for Morgan though.
Rodgers on Jamie Vardy "If you watch Leicester in their title-winning season, the space was there and Jamie could run into it," he said. "But part of his evolution as a player is to be able to play when the spaces are tight. "Of course, some teams may choose to do that - maybe teams in the middle or towards the bottom of the league. They don't want to leave the space, but you have to find a way. "Find a way to break through that defensive block, find ways to give him opportunities to score because he can score goals. There is absolutely no question about that. When I've watched Leicester of late and they counter-attack, the ball is coming up direct and it's one against four. We need to get players closer to him. "He's absolutely clinical. This guy's a goalscorer, he's done it all his life through non-league, but he has to get the service. "It's my job to formulate a game plan that allows us to exploit his talents, as well as the talents of the other players. We will never rely solely on Jamie, it's up to others also."
The reflexes required to cushion the ball from that distance and guide it into the net are almost unbelievable. If I didn't know Chris Wood better I'd have said it was a fluke.
Rodgers have gone 343. Finally a manager can see what we all can see Schmeichel Maguire Morgan Evans Ricardo Ndidi Tielemans Chilwell Maddison Barnes Vardy Subs- Ward, Soyuncu, Fuchs, Mendy, Gray, Ghezzal, Iheanacho
I've always said, with Ricardo and Chilwell in the team, we are perfectly set up for the wing back system. Tough on Gray though IMO
We have said all season we should play like this. We have loads of centre halfs, full backs better going forwards then backwards. Maguire can run out more with the ball and our wingers arent good enough. Maddison gets the play as a proper 10 which will be interchangeable with Barnes. Iheanacho can come on and play as a striker as it easy to play 1 behind the 2 If his is how Rodgers wants to play I would give Morgan another year and get Benkovic in the first team next year as you will need 5 centre halfs with that formation
Maddison, Barnes and Vardy all like drifting to the left wing - hopefully they won't get in each others way but otherwise is a real chance for Ricardo to shine.
This formation suits Ricardo and Chilwell much better, and gives licence to Maguire to take everyone on and score a worldy I don't expect it to work straight away, they've only had a week to get used to it, but lets see how it goes, we cant stick to 442 forever.
