Always liked Carol King, I knew of her songwriting and her collaboration with husband Gerry Goffin, but I never realised the depth of her songwriting and how she wrote some of the songs that I loved so many years ago, here's a few. I think you get the gist.
And nearly forgot, one of my personal faves, although recorded by Dusty Springfield over here I like Carol's version (or Carole's).
I don't really know who you're referring to there but yes the lyrics are very powerful. I find 'Strange Fruit' even more so. I think she might be one of my favourite woman of all time, both for her songs and for her feminism and general uppitiness.
