Yes it is, but Stroll wasn't the one coming from behind Vettel was he? And I am sure, as Vettel knows very well, Stroll isn't fight for a world championship, is he?
There's nothing unusual about cars passing on the slowing down lap. What's unusual is a car hit another.
Of course, but Stroll is still a learner, probably by the hard way, Vettel should have been more aware.
Perception is reality. It’s funny how Vettel is at fault because he’s in Stroll’s blind spot, but he should have known where Max was in Singapore! Instead of people just agreeing to disagree, there just seems to be selected facts taken to prove or disprove a point. There is just no perspective on things. By deduction every driver who had ever passed on a cool down lap is an idiot (which includes the fanboy favourite) and Vettel better be careful which way he enters a circuit in case there is a driver there that is not fighting for the championship. Like I said Vettel could have done things differently, but that doesn’t mean he was by definition wrong. At this rate we will have a butterfly effect! Didn’t Schuey write his Ferrari off on the way to the grid once by hitting another car. What an idiot, didn’t he realise the other driver wasn’t fighting for a championship?
Both Schumacher and Vettel exhibit similar carefree driving qualities, both consider they are superior to other drivers on the track and take greater risks, sadly Schumacher has paid dearly for continuing this attitude off track.
Vettels incident was the weirdest one I've seen in years. In simplest terms I think it comes down to Vettel expecting stroll to take the racing line and Stroll not knowing Vettel was passing him on a relatively tight line. It's just one of those things. Both drivers let their guard down and a one in a million accident happened. I'm glad Vettels gearbox is fine. Highly suspicious mind but still glad.
Not sure where to post this, but I have a serious question for you petrol heads. Vettels gearbox has been flown back to Italy to be checked out and reports are saying that they think it's OK. I'm guessing that to check it out properly, it would have had to be dismantled. How do the FIA monitor this and ensure no new parts are fitted during this "inspection" process. Not a dig at either Vettel or Ferrari by the way, just curious
They're not supposed to break FIA seals so in theory they can't open it up. I guess they can perform none destructive tests on it? X-ray, gamma ray scanning? I'm just guessing really, in the past I've heard about teams changing cogs so I suppose they are allowed to do some things. Probably an area teams push their luck with anyway.
There would be a certain amount they could do within the rules. They'll be able to replace broken gears within the rules for instance if there's damage there. I Imagine they'll whack it on a dyno too after any repair/inspection.
Guess we'll find out. They thought his engine was okay after the Singapore GP. That didn't work out too well.
I’m sure Cosi can confirm, but like you say teams can replace certain parts like for like. Like BLS has pointed out they can probably do stress test and X-ray tests as well. I’m pretty shocked it’s in one piece to be honest.
Where does that stop though .Not on the wum , genuine question.surely there must be a limit to how many parts you can change , like for like .
