    Cojones of the day, the Iranian team. Fair play to them. Just hope there are no repercussions when they get home.

    Wales V USA was the best game so far.

    I think International football is still rotten to the core and has been for decades This particular tournament is especially obnoxious. For that reason, I am struggling to enjoy it.

    Which is why I've never paid any attention to the rankings, they are pathetic. Not so long ago Switzerland were ranked number 1 and Poland were very near the top too, both on the back of having long unbeaten runs having played absolutely no one in meaningless friendlies ! A complete joke

    The greatest thing that could happen would be for the winning country to refuse the cup at the end of the tournament, not that its going to happen.

    Alireza Beiranvand suffered a head injury in the opening stages of Iran's game against England, leading to 14 minutes being added on at the end of the first half

    Fifa World Cup

    We are only two days into this World Cup and already we are seeing a theme developing:

    Stoppage-time. And lots of it....

    Chairman of Fifa's referees committee Pierluigi Collina confirmed last week that fourth officials had been instructed to keep track of time lost during the game during the tournament in Qatar, something they had also tried to do at the previous World Cup in Russia in 2018.
