I see Auguste Rodin is 11/4 fav (backed down from 14/1). I can't be having that, 4 runs already

I notice there must be about 50 as yet unnamed (well bred) colts entered for the Derby; most of which seem to be in training wit AOB, with a scattering of JPOB, and Haggas. I wonder what plans there could be for some of these; an expensive bunch to be sitting on the side-lines. The mind boggles

They may be named now. I think the entries were made last November and they just haven't been updated in the Derby list. Go on the Breeder's Cup site and input 2020 and the dam's name.

They've decided to do away with the yearling entry stage. The 2024 entries will be made February/March 2024.

PS. There were more but these were the ones I pulled out, mainly on pedigree

Owners are getting lazy. I know they have to check they are not using the same name as someone else (or the same name that's been used in the last 20 years) but it takes ages to get some of these horses named. I believe Mark Prescott used to demand his inmates were named asap.

I’ll take a look when I’m back in the office. I might have the whereabouts of a few.

They’ve now scrapped the yearling entry stage so we won’t have these lists going forward.

I thought I would produce a report of the performances (if any) of those "unnamed" foals entered for the Derby (see above)

I was going to suggest a reverse forecast on the 2 but that's no forecast

As I've said time and time before you should be on the radio with that sort of stuff.

When are the 2000G (1000G and Oaks as well in fact) initial entries published?

There is going to be a whole host of backward unraced 2022 two-year-olds because of the firm ground midsummer which affected both their training and and their chances of running.

Could be, but they have the advantage of having their turf season last about 3 weeks longer. Also their All-Weather is not solely aimed at the lowest common denominator. Look at a day's AW racing in England at the moment and see if you can spot a suitable race for a 3yo requiring 10f+ and being in Class A (or B).

Yep. Every night I look to see if there are any suitable races for 3yos on the AW. Not a lot so far. I may have missed some but so far I have only detected a few, 2 of which accounted for 3 of the horses I listed

Second declarations out and 83 remaining (still 3 Royal entries). Of course new entries can still be made. It just costs more to supplement.
