A signing? Ah, now I understand where you are coming from. Ignore the fact that we need around 15. And that we kick off the season in just over 2 weeks time. And that it's almost certain we'll pick up an injury or two before then, as well as lose even more players.
It didn't work for Phelan though. Everyone loved him until we started inevitably losing. Then almost everyone turned on him and our plight was put down to his choice of formation or the fact that he left Hernandez on the bench - as if he would have made a difference. The fact it was a complete joke to have only Hernandez, Mbokani, Keane and Diomande to choose from as a Premier League side became ignored. It'll be the same with Slutsky. Loads of sympathy now, but as soon as we start losing it'll be all his fault and he'll be tactically clueless, no plan B, etc. People will want to believe that the **** squad is all his fault and not due to those above him. It sounds ridiculous but it's exactly what happened last year.
Wow. Just maybe, sticking Marshall while leaving our greatest goalie on the bench had more than a little to do with it. Plus the lack of any ability to react with timely changes. He was simply out of his depth.
Haha. As if to prove my point, along comes the most fickle of clowns. He picked the wrong goalie so we were ****. Not the fact that we had the worst squad in PL history. No it was because the goalie was wrong. Jesus wept. Like I said, it'll be the same again with Slutsky. Phelan was flavour of the month at first too.
He also persisted with Keane up top and Mason out wide. And Jake in defence while Maguire sat on the bench. It wasn't all his fault but he really didn't help things.
Considering my point was that people blamed Phelan for ridiculously minor tactical things they considered to be 'incorrect' while there were quite obviously much bigger issues in play, you're just proving my point by saying it all over again. Are you going to have sympathy for Slutsky if we go on a bad run this season? Even if he dares to play someone in a position they don't have marked as their correct one on Football Manager?
Weren't you the one who smugly insisted Marshall would be back in goal for Silva's first game and that all of us Jak fans would have to put up with it because Silva would demonstrate that Phelan wasn't clueless?
FFS, I'm not going through all of this again. It's utterly ridiculous to suggest that the keeper makes such a huge difference to a team or to focus on the choice of keeper or which massively inadequate striker to play when there are such bigger issues in play which should afford the manager some sympathy. Like I said, it'll be the same again this year if we lose a few. The knives even came out for Silva after our last few bad results and that guy was a bloody genius. We lose to Burton and it'll be bloody clueless, no Plan B, why's Diomande playing and not Abel (ignoring the fact that every manager has had issues with Abel and left him out), etc. This obsession over the concept of players having one single predefined 'correct' position and any manager who attempts to employ them differently being clueless is incredibly short-sighted.
No one likes him. He thinks it wasn't Phelans fault he picked the wrong team and played suicidal tactics. Wierdly he's just banging on about the fans who saw the obvious. Just the sort you want in a position of responsibility in the Trust. Hates the owners, hates any fans who don't agree with his ****ing mental views. He's angrier than an African. #askPLT
Who are these "people" - our supporters ? If so they are irrelevant to what I said. Our situation is well documented concerning our incompetent ownership and their meddling tendencies. If Slutsky prevents further relegation he will have done a good job under the circumstances. Potential future employees will note that.
I agree that he'll have done a good job in that scenario but I think future employees are almost as fickle as fans. They'd see it as failure and he'd struggle to get future jobs.
since when? if you wanna hate Allams, don't twist the facts to fit your argument. they don't interfere in team selection, tactics or training................. so where are they meddling?
a player wanting to ply his trade in PL isn't unusual after a team get relegated. nothing an owner/manager can do about that.
