At the end of this clip, Orson Welles tells of a very funny exchange he had with Winston Churchill at the Lido Hotel in Venice. It's said that Churchill had a wonderful sense of humour. He displays it here.
Here's Lou Bega sending the middle-aged (and older) audience in raptures at an André Rieu concert in Maastricht, Holland, with his Mambo No. 5 (bet a few of them didn't feel so hot next morning!) André Rieu looked a bit bemused with it all! Hell of a hit this Mambo No. 5, when was it, 10-years ago?
Thanks Smokey, I just could not remember when it was exactly. We had a good friend called Erika, and when we were out on one of our monthly dinner dates with friends and the restaurant played Mambo No. 5, and got to her name in the song, she would look at me, or one of the other guys, and say "No!" (However, very sad to report that Erika went down with Alzheimer's a year or two back. A really terrible illness.)
Agreed. Horrendous it is. Two of my grandparents slowly withered away with it over the course of around 10 years.
At last got around to listening to this fine clip. Many thanks for putting it up. What a marvellous raconteur Orson Welles was, and the people he had met in his life, unbelievable! Great actor too!
Ennio Morricone: Oscar-winning Italian film composer dies aged 91 If there is one genre of film that captured my imagination as a young man it was Clint Eastwood in those 3 classic spaghetti Westerns The Good, The Bad The Ugly, Fist Full of Dollars and For A Few Dollars More. But what really makes those films stand out more than most of the other Westerns around is the music, and that was made by the great Ennio Morricone who has passed away aged 91... It just wouldn't be the same without this classic bit of music now would it...!!!
When I was at college as a young 16/17 year old in Preston one of my mates was in a band, the drummer, of a group that were basically a copy for the Stray Cats and were ok from memory. But i got to see these boys later on in life in Manchester where they just rocked the place down to it's knees. Great energy, great tunes and great fun as well. Boy can Lee Rocker swing that bass...!!! Nice one Cyc...
Think you would have to mind you P's n Q's in that place Oddy, no dropping the F-bomb or your trousers in that place...
