Best Driver: Worst Driver: Best Rookie: Best Team: Worst Team: Best Overtake: Most Surprising Result: Least Surprising Result: Funniest moment: Excuse of the week: Special Mention: Best post from the race thread: Race Rating: ?/10
Best Driver: A difficult one, lots of good drives mixed with lots of good fortune. Struggling to pick out just one. Worst Driver: Wehrlien? Vettel? Vettel has just not been with it lately, friction within? Best Rookie: Estaban, if he counts. Best Team: Force India has a cracker Worst Team: Ferrari? Or maybe Williams Best Overtake: whatever Alonso did to get to 5th. Most Surprising Result: Force Indias Least Surprising Result: Rosberg Funniest moment: Sainz "I have a puncture" whilst sat there with a shredded tyre that's removed his rear wing Excuse of the week: Did no one pick up Ricardos gust of wind excuse in q3? Special Mention: Those with a clean race Best post from the race thread: Race Rating: 8/10
Did Alonso pass anyone? I though it was more staying out of trouble and getting lucky with the safety car/ red flag that gave him 5th. Best Driver: Hulkenberg. Worst Driver: Verstappen Best Rookie: Ocon. Best Team: Force India Worst Team: Williams have lost the plot. Apparently the rumour is that Jenson has turned them down and they might end up with Nasr next year. That really sums up how well it's being going recently. Best Overtake: Perez on Massa Most Surprising Result: FI 4-5 Least Surprising Result: Rosberg win (by default again) Funniest moment: Williams calling Alonso a sitting duck and proceeding to fail to get past. Excuse of the week: Verstappen's logic. If they crashed into you earlier, it's apparently ok to force them off track in retaliation. Special Mention: Alonso for his defending from faster cars for a long time. Best post from the race thread: Race Rating: 7.5/10 The first laps were incredibly exciting, but all that carnage robbed us some entertainment after that. Still an enjoyable race.
Best Driver: I would say that i'll give it to rosberg who drove away form the pack twice and managed his race. Worst Driver: Verstappen. stupidity at first corner. theres nowhere to go after you get round there but across the track into 10 more cars coming through. Best Rookie: meh... Best Team: Mercedes just got on with it. right tyres and managed race easily. they got Hamilton out in good spots to continue his race well. Worst Team: Williams looked really really poor. they got absolutely eaten up. Best Overtake: Verstappen round the outside then being on insdie for next corner. it was a genuine no DRS overtake. Most Surprising Result: Hulkenburg actually holding the poistion he did. Least Surprising Result: Hamilton on podium Funniest moment: Sainz spinning in the middle of the track with one front wheel in the air. Excuse of the week: who ever got away with a shocking unsafe pit release? whatever they said must have been sweeeet. Special Mention: Magnusson for living... that was a big one. Best post from the race thread: Race Rating: 7/10 - it was solid but the ending was a bit flat. it needed a charger late on and just didn't have any. top 2 were preserving and hamilton was on mediums and not really catching.
Best Driver: Rosberg, Ricc? Worst Driver: Verstappen Best Rookie: Best Team: Merc Worst Team: Williams Best Overtake: Perez Massa Most Surprising Result: Ferrari contact Least Surprising Result: Merc Podium Funniest moment: Excuse of the week: Anything out of Verstappen and Horners mouth Special Mention: Alonso and Hamilton, both fortunate with the red flag but did their jobs to perfection, Kimi for the recovery Best post from the race thread: Race Rating: 6.5/10
Best Driver: Danny Ric Worst Driver: Wehrlein or Palmer both made stupid mistakes Best Rookie: Poor weekend for the rookies Best Team: Force India on the track/Merc off it Worst Team: Ferrari, really slipped behind RB for the rest of the season now I think. Best Overtake: Verstappen's out the back of the circuit Most Surprising Result: Hulkenburg Least Surprising Result: Verstappen sails up the inside at La Source Funniest moment: Sainz driving away with half a tyre attached to his rear wing. Excuse of the week: Didn't spot anything great. Special Mention: Hamilton's Mechanics Best post from the race thread: Race Rating: 6.5/10
Best Driver: No one stood out as outstanding, so by default Robserg gets it for pole and a controlled win. Lots of general good drivers, HAM/ALO did well from the back but had a fair slice of good fortune too. Worst Driver: Verstappen for openly admitting he was ensuring no Ferrari would pass him because he felt they took him out at the first corner. Childish stuff. Best Rookie: Ocon, the others crashed. He didn't. Best Team: Force India. Expected to do well and did. Why can't they live up to expectations at the start of each season rather than coming on strong later? Worst Team: Renault. Dog of a car. May as well quit the rest of the season and build their 2017 car. Best Overtake: Verstappen, the kid has talent, but needs to grow up a bit at the same time. Most Surprising Result: No penalties handed out for some very dubious driving standards all through the field Least Surprising Result: also, No penalties handed out for some very dubious driving standards all through the field Funniest moment: Sainz 'I have a puncture' Excuse of the week: Special Mention: KMag. Huge crash, walked away. Best post from the race thread: Race Rating: ?/10: 7.5. Some good racing and entertainment
Best Driver: Hulkenburg perhaps overperformed this weekend? Worst Driver: Verstappen - enough said. Best Rookie: Ocon Best Team: Force India maximised their weekend Worst Team: Sauber were dreadful again. Best Overtake: Perez on Massa, because I refuse to give Max any credit for this weekend Most Surprising Result: Alonso 5th Least Surprising Result: Rosberg win Funniest moment: Sainz's rear wing deciding to adopt a new orientation. Excuse of the week: Whatever crap Webber/Coulthard were saying to try and avoid criticising Max harshly in front of Horner. Special Mention: The FIA (shock horror) for already starting an investigation into how K-Mag's headrest came loose. Important that they don't rest on their laurels satisfied that he walked away. Best post from the race thread: Race Rating: 8/10 Best opening laps of the season, the red flag ruined some stories that were developing.
Best Driver: Hulkenberg; Alonso; Rosberg; Hamilton; Ricciardo. One way or another, they all have a good claim this time; but Hukenberg had one of his best ever races. Worst Driver: Vettel and Verstappen. Both, as explained in the raced thread. Best Rookie: Ocon. Best Team: Force India / Mercedes. The latter's 1 - 3 may have looked easy but Hamilton's result quite an achievement, regardless of a convenient Safety Car. Worst Team: Sauber, Williams, Ferrari and even Renault might have a fair claim. I was going to give it to Sauber but I've just changed my mind. Best Overtake: This choice may surprise a few: Verstappen's calculated move to get the DRS was cleverer than Vettel's appreciation of the situation. The former 'out-thought' the latter. Most Surprising Result: Hulkenberg; Force India; disinterested stewards. Least Surprising Result: I expected a Safety Car and Hamilton in top 5. (Yes, I know where he actually finished!) Funniest moment: Excuse of the week: Special Mention: Verstappen: should get his act together and keep his head down for the rest of the season; and think himself a very lucky boy! Best post from the race thread: Race Rating: 8.01/10
