Must admit I've never seen a room with one of these stair boxes in and although you've posted the picture, I'm still struggling to imagine it with a bed built on over to the window wall Will need a pic when it's done.
I hate when houses leave that box. Our is actually a 45° slab which is worse than useless. I reckon there's little enough needed to build that in. 1/2" mdf base delivered cut to size and a bit of a frame.
I just google imaged it and now it makes sense. Basically this is what G could have depending on width of stair box [bulkhead they seem to be calling it] please log in to view this image And yours is like this? ...... please log in to view this image
It was just the angled shape I meant. I've never seen a house with a stair box/bulkhead in one of the bedrooms so I guess the shape and height depend on the configuration of the stairs. Seems crazy to me. Our downstairs toilet is under the stairs so the ceiling slopes, as you would imagine but taking space out of a bedroom is mad, surely house designers can do better than that.
They fake a 4th bedroom imo. They really make the house foot print too small imo and steal some out of the "box room"
Don't talk to me about beds. Had a nightmare getting our youngest's bed into her room, but think it looks ok now it is in please log in to view this image
Book a crane and take out the windows mate. Thats what I did. please log in to view this image this is just after they dropped it. I bet your servants broke their back getting that up the main staircase.
You won't believe that when I saw the picture the first thing I thought was the pea under the mattress story
Will be like that but without doors, leaving it open with storage tubs instead. For one, it's easier (although I'm more than capable of pitting doors or draws there) and secondly it gives him a den to hide in if he wants (I'll be covering the underneath too so no exposed screws etc)
I think they occur where modern house designers are so inept they can't design one without the headroom for the staircase intruding into an upstairs room and having to be boxed in.
