This has got to be worth a thread on its own.

CARD has announced that Charlton and Coventry fans will march to the Valley in unison on 15 Oct.

Further protests at the game are planned, but boycotters are being urged to come back and to buy tickets for the LOWER WEST on the day.

Got that > The LOWER WEST <cheers>

    Together We Are Charlton <laugh>

I think the idea of heavily populating the Lower West is a good one. Not only will it have Nigel Williamson reaching for the smelling salts, it will also cause the club logistical problems on the day.

Another advantage is that Slade will be in ear shot of the fans.

If the plan is to abuse Slade, then I see it kicking off.

Perhaps CARD have bought a crate load of £5.00 ex-army Olive Green Puffa Jackets and are going to give them out to fans so they can wear them to throw insults at Slade? It seems, that to be insulted by a slug is the ultimate indignity.

I'm sure if anybody already has such a jacket they could bring it along and join in the protest <ok>

I hope the fact that I've been consistent with my anti CARD feelings, and the fact that I've regularly reasoned as to why I am still a ST holder, will allow me some degree of grace with this post...

This is my final straw with CARD.

I have long argued that they need to be accountable to all supporters. I have had long and to be honest embarrassing email exchanges with both CARD and CAST where it was painfully evident that ego and agendas are more important to those within both organisations who are in a position to enforce policy (one day I would like to publish these exchanges in my own fanzine that I sell for money to make them look stupid, but that's another story...)

I have also long argued that the inherent purpose of CARD is surely to unite supporters from all sections of the fanbase, to engage with them and to create a consistent message; and to then facilitate action. Last season CARD had limited tangible success; realistically nothing has changed other than the squad numbers now being on the big screen. CARDs one unequivocal positive however was to create a solid media image and identity; a springboard from which to launch agitation during the 2016/17 season. Whilst the from of that agitation is subjective - for example I believe protests to be futile and a more let's say political approach to be the more likely way to dispose Duchatelet - CARDs purpose should be to ensure that all fans are aware of the problems and that all fans are part of the solution.

For whatever reason - often deeply personal - a large number of supporters still renewed their season tickets this year; not one of them (or us, I should say) is content with the mismanagement of the Club, and not one of them/us is ignorant to the crisis. Many of the remaining ST holders sit in the Lower West, including me. This almost fascist decision to launch the next protest from there and thus enforcing it on the match going fans - without even having the decency to tell them what it will entail until 12pm on the day of the game - is a step too far.

I have sat in the West Lower Block G for 13 years now. As have many of the faces around me. Many where black and white scarves. Many wear old and proudly worn Redbus and Mesh shirts. One man even brings a stuffed toy rat in a Charlton shirt to every home match with 'Roland Out' written across the rat's shirt. And many are old, disabled or children.

I am frankly disgusted by CARD's imposing actions; even more so when I consider and know that CAST are a part of the mythical CARD 'umbrella'. The proposed plans for the Coventry game will cause fractures in support, and are highly disrespectful to a large element of supporters. I would urge CARD to reconsider however unfortunately I know they will not listen to anyone but themselves.

For many supporters, this is more threatening to them than the Club's mismanagement itself; and it highlights the abject failure that CARD has had in fulfilling it's function, a failure that will contribute towards CARD ultimately amounting to nothing (when it could have been so much more)

Kish how would you show your displeasure/ anger at this regime. Are you happy with where we are as a Football club, empty Stadiums and two points off the relegation zone.
Many people criticise CARD, but I am interested to know what you would do KISH.

    @The Kish

The biggest danger to regulars in the Lower West next Saturday is someone choking on a Wethers Original.

Meire has issued a staggering statement today acknowledging "numerous" mistakes & inviting CARD in for talks .

They must tell her to f*ck off.

I've stated my view a thousand times but in short it was to unite fans of all clubs, lobby the FA/Football League to the effect that 'Fit and Proper' isn't fit and proper (and needs to extend beyond mere financial controls), and to lobby for each Club's supporters to legitmatley form Supporters Trusts and to be able to agree bespoke 'Supporter's Charters' which would become in effect a constitutional document for the management of a Club and as such imposed on Owners and ensure accountability to supporters interest.

I wrote a succinct article about this for Late Tackle magazine in April. I can dig out the link if you are interested.

Appreciate that's a flawed ideology given the FA's indifference and that ti probably isn't in their interests; but protesting has never really worked at any Club has it?

I wish. We're out of the relegation zone on goal difference.

I think your last paragraph says it all. I think protesting has had an effect. It got us a British Manager and British players. Unfortunately the British Manager is Slade and the British Players are the likes of Crofts and Novak.

I think the fact RD was running out of network crap was a very large factor in why we got a british manager. We'd already recycled Riga, Peeters and Luzon have ''left the network'', criticising RD on their way out. There's the serb and O'Loughlin, but after Fraeye I don't think they'd even be that silly to go down that route.
