Did anyone see that foul Lukaku committed in the game tonight? It was EXACTLY the same as the Wales player got a straight red for. Not even a foul for star player Lukaku.

I would appeal if I was Wales, and show them the Lukaku foul.

VAR, which to be fair has been operated much better in this tournament than it is in the PL, appeared to have got one wrong last night when Lukaku had a goal disallowed against Finland

please log in to view this image

The top image, as the ball was played, shows him onside, but the second image, a frame later and after the ball was played, was used by VAR to disallow the goal. This is a major flaw in my opinion and one that I'd always suspected could be an issue. We should get back to linesmen giving offside decisions and VAR, if it must be used at all, only intervening to correct clear errors.

This is where VAR is getting too forensic, for all intense and purposes Lukaku is still onside in the 2nd frame, we're talking millimetres here and as there is no computer image available to pin point the exact moment the ball is played then it's becoming pure guess work by the VAR officials. I agree it should be scrapped for offside, leave the decision to the lino who should flag straightaway, none of the phase finished nonsense. There's nothing wrong with a bit of human error unless it's against us off course...........

This whole quarantining of Mount and Chilwell seems very weird. So they have been identified to quarantine, fine if that’s what happened.
But I don’t get the statement “… among Gilmour's Scotland team-mates, however, there were no close contacts identified within the squad, with 25 players available to face Croatia on Tuesday”. Sounds like their not very friendly in the Scotland squad if that’s the case (which I highly doubt, given the result they got).
If anyone has an explanation, I’m all ears; because I’m stupid enough not to understand the nuances.
Good luck to Scotland tonight by the way, would like to see all the home nations teams get through to the last-16.

Can't make my mind up if that is a good side or not.....

Must admit I can't see why we need both Rice and Phillips playing, one or the other yes but not both as neither seem to be the box to box player that is needed.....

So the official take on this is....and do not shoot the messenger.

The Chelsea boys spents 25 minute ( which is not less than 20 minutes) chatting afterwards in the tunnel together. Which broke their individual team bubbles.
All 3 players would then need to self isolate...
Therefore it didn't matter that Clarke hugged Gilmore... It mattered that the 3 Chelsea lads ( always Chelsea...to be fair..that is my comment not UEFAs) stood and chatted in a tunnel, which is not outside, for more than 20 minutes

No Foden that’s a shame & must be injured? Don’t know why Mings is dropped, hasn’t done much wrong, would’ve left out Sterling

So...if we finish 3rd it's either Netherland or Belgium in the next round, if we finish 2nd it could well be Spain and if we win the group it will be a full weeks break between games, but we are likely to play France, Germany or Portugal.

Any of those scenarios will require a huge improvement on what we've seen so far for us to go further. Who knows those, maybe I'm being overly cynical and we'll play beautiful, free flowing football tonight and win 5-0.

Not injured Jeff. Apparently Southgate didn't want to play him as he has a yellow card. Hmm.
