True, it's been a while since we saw a top flight game, but when was the last time you saw your team top the league?
I believe that we topped or very nearly one of the top leagues in the World as little as five years ago Laps.
I seem to recall it was a Saturday in either October or November, and either 2014 or 15 that for about 20 minutes during a game, Saints topped the PL. It should be something I know exactly, but as I don't follow those things that closely, all I have is a vague memory of the moment. More than a feeling though. Cue for a song?
Finished 6th in one of the top leagues in the World just 4 years ago ahead of the mighty Liverpool have you ever seen that?
Mmm,not sure being top of a league but still several dozen places below our rivals is of much interest. You see we simply can't win those leagues that little clubs win we're just too good. Sorry.
Imagine being a 53 year old man and having to explain to your children that you're going to prison for punching a horse while attending a football match ffs.
Is he indeed? Well spotted Velcro, Ive been waiting for this since we beat 3rd division side Portsmouth 0-4 Ings [21', 44'] Soares [77'] Redmond [86'] at Fratton Park on Tuesday 24th September 2019 7.45 pm kick off. As far as I can remember anyway (I'm not one to worry too much about the details). https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/11329986/ukip-candidate-punched-police-horse-riot/ Prosecutor Liam Hunter said Jennings, who is from the city, was seen shouting “come on then Dobbin if you think you're hard enough”. I've edited this a little bit Why the long face Del?
I wonder if Luna will be called as a witness "He wasn't a better opponent, he just got lucky"..........Luna
Come on lads don't be so ungenerous as to begrudge Pompey the many, many years of success they have enjoyed and still enjoy playing in the bottom tiers of the Football League. I have to say that I have really enjoyed hearing about their exploits against the likes of Crewe Alexander and Accrington Stanley. I am sure it has meant a great deal to their fans. We only get to see matches against Spurs, Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal etc which must be awful for our fans. Just think if we too were ****ing useless we also could play Hartlepool and Grimsby and their ilk every week. But heigh-ho that's life we will just have to go on suffering.
The difference between you and me, is that I go to matches to watch my team. You clearly go to matches (or watch them on TV) to watch the opposition. Personally I'd rather win against Accrington than lose against arsenal. I couldn't give a damn who we are playing, as long as we win. But I'm being a bit harsh maybe, after all you can celebrate with your 'we played Manchester United' trophy, while we can celebrate winning an actual league trophy in recent years.
Is there really much more glory about coming 1st over coming 2nd in the lower leagues? You're playing for promotion and that's what you celebrate.
Tbf, unlike you, I didn't actually change your words, I just focused on the important part. That fact Southampton have never played in league two or an equivalent league is neither here nor there, nor does it concern me at all.
