Hadn't seen this film since I saw it underage at the flicks in 1980 but eventually decided to buy the dvd. A great film still, with excellent performances from all. Probably way too tame for youngsters these days but a wonderful film. I wouldn't call it a horror but it caused a bit of a stir when it came out in the early 70's. I did see The Exorcist II in the flicks as well but I think I remember it was utter ****, not one of Richard Burton's finest. I also purchased the Omen Collection as well. The first one is great, two of my favourite actors in it, Gregory Peck and Lee Remick, always had a bit of a crush on Lee in 1976!! The second and third films are **** though. Two films that have stood the test of time.
There was a documentary about some rednecks on death row in America that had killed their kiddy. They interviewed the brightest relative they could find, and she defended them saying that there's a lot going on, and you only have to see the Exorcist as proof, as it's clearly a documentary because nobody could act at spinning their head round like that. The interviewer asked his defence lawyer if this evidence would be of any value in getting the accused granted clemency. His defence lawyer calmly said, 'this is Texas, you don't get clemency for being innocent, so he's not going to get it for being a retard.'
Scared the living **** out of me when it came out, and still brilliant when I saw it a few years ago. The Omen was a bit of a disappointment when I saw that at the flics, quite moody and stylish though. The Amityville Horror was another scary one. Based on a true story, some guy shot and killed his whole family. Not that that’s rare in America.
I love The Omen film. Always have done. Poor old David Warner. And the second Doctor Who, Patrick Troughton was great at the Priest.
It did indeed Archie. A car accident. Along with the three films in the trilogy that I bought there was also a documentary and it was detailed in that. Bloody spooky indeed!!
It was actually the wife of the special effect guy who did that scene. She was decapitated in a car accident not long after the film was released. There has been a lot of freaky shìt that happened to the cast and crew of that film.
That's it Aldo, I remember now. Apparently there were quite a few strange and awful incidents that happened to people involved in both The Omen and The Exorcist. Strange indeed.
Saw the exorcist in the cinema. **** myself and didn’t go out for weeks after it. Great film as is The Omen. Not a horror but loved One flew over the cuckoos nest too
