Yes I feel the Yanks had a LOT of weasling with it to be honest. As those muppets don't understand SOCCER:
All 12 clubs are meeting tonight to discuss it. Hope they kill the idea. It was so wrong and against sporting ethics.
Hopefully, all those greedy plans fall through. But, we must not forget the betrayal to football's and sports ethics from the big 6 and beyond. No relegation, founding big 12 jokers. I guess it could still go ahead mind. Or maybe it was a sham to get more from the Champions league. I doubt that theory though.
Mrs Andy and I called this earlier today. Our reasoning was that it’s the Septic Tank owners (Liverpool, Man Ure, Arsenal) who are chasing money. Man City’s sheikh doesn’t exactly need the cash, he just didn't want to be left out if all the big clubs were doing it, and whatever you think about Abramovich, he is a football fan (we figured he was going along with it for the same reasons as Man City’s sheikh). The Spuds were just thrilled they were asked to be part of this, given their lack of silverware. I don’t think the Septics will roll over easily though. But it’s all falling apart...
Yank owners still digging in. See how it pans out, glad it LOOKS like it might fall down. I am not against a revamp of the Champs or a Super league. However, the no relegation things and some teams not being in it on merit make me feel sick to the stomach.
According to the Beeb, all of the English clubs are pulling out of this league tonight. Fine, but what a horrible taste it must leave in the mouth of those fans to know that you are not really in their thoughts.
Cynical me suggests they were posturing for a bigger slice of the tv pie. The rest of the EPL, EFL and FA should tell them to go whistle Dixie and start on -30 points next season. F*** 'em!
Indeed. Although, a Prem without the so called big 6 might make it more competitive. Maybe they should be all thrown out.
Although I have little regard for PSG because they are another team assembled with unlimited money, they have played a blinder here by staying clear of this dreadful saga. While I was working earlier I was thinking about a former member of this forum who advocated letting money control events. His short sighted view has been shown up perfectly as being wrong. You need regulations that are for the good of all, not the few. I had better shut up or I might take that into other areas of everyday life.
Possibly written tongue in cheek, but an article that brings a little perspective... https://www.suffolkgazette.com/spor...pean-cup-winners-turn-down-super-league-spot/
Back to the status quo... John Barnes was pretty damning about the money men in football on breakfast TV.....
The other 14 clubs are “divided” over whether to punish the big 6. https://www.skysports.com/football/...r-league-clubs-divided-on-big-six-punishments
