He couldn't even wait a week after the Man City European ban, _________________ Yeah, this is the bit that gets me. So you want to ply your trade in the CL, fair enough, start talking to your agent. But have some respect. This will be the third club he leaves with a bad taste in its mouth.
Maybe he wants to learn another language and experience a different culture. Good luck to both.I think we would all do the same if given the opportunity. His agent must have been setting this up for a long time so I don't think this has come about as a result of City not being able to play CL or EL football. I would also add that it prepares City fans for his departure.
When David Platt joined Bari many years ago, he took a positive attitude to learning Italian. By the time he joined Sampdiria, his new colleagues were ribbing him for his Southern Italian accent. When Gary Lineker went to Barcelona, he learnt Spanish. As for his acquisition of Catalán I do not know. Here in Mallorca, most subjects are taught in Catalán which puts those who speak Spanish as a first language at a slight disadvantage.
Yes I'm sure there are other examples too but what I was trying to say was that footballers make moves here or abroad for money then a chance to win trophies, in that order.
You are right but when SFC´s former great (Adam Lallana) moves from Liverpool to another UK club, I am sure he will be on less money. If I recall Arteta moved from Everton to Arsenal for less money initially but with a view to winning trophies.
Ronaldo scores in his 11th consecutive game, breaking the record in Italy. Not a bad milestone for your 1000th game. What a player.
I saw a written interview with Adrian Heath (yeah that one ) who is now managing Minnesota in the USA. He claims that there is a strong rumour that Ronaldo and Messi could be tempted stateside by the David Beckham, Miami side. Stranger things have happened.
He keeps himself in peak physical shape. So he will still be gathering crowds in four years when that move happens. No doubt. Messi, not so sure. Can see him leaving the limelight.
The number of Spanish speaking inhabitants in Miami would make it an ideal winding down project for Messi, IMO.
