I saw a comment from Stan Collymore that, in hindsight, makes a lot of sense.
When the tv rights are decided and sold to the highest bidder, a percentage of the overall total should be put into a special fund for helping clubs that fall into severe hardship, through no fault of their own.
As I say, in hindsight, that fund would be extremely useful right now to keep lower league clubs ticking over until games restart.
But then, the wealthy, and greedy, big clubs would probably veto such an idea.

My guess (complete guess based on nothing) is that a very prolonged lockdown will result in people getting fed up and such a profound effect on the economy that things will be eased out of necessity...and the risk will be reduced with/without a vaccine because so many people will have had the disease and possess some immunity.

Of course, it isn't clear how long naturally induced immunity will last....though animal carriers of the disease do have immunity (though that may have developed over a prolonged period).

We have never had a situation where herd immunity was achieved without the help of a vaccine, so we’re in uncharted waters.

We have never achieved herd immunity for seasonal flu...hence new injections every year, but there is a possibility that once you've had it you are immune for the present season. No one really knows.

I could be wrong here but seasonal flu mutates every season (bit like saints form), so every year we start again.

The saving grace so far is that COVID-19 doesn't (or hasn't) mutated. So we can hopefully get the herd immunity through infections or eventually a vaccine.

That’s because seasonal flu mutates every year, so the vaccine has to change.

Oih! I thought Covid talk was restricted to one thread. :emoticon-0136-giggl

Having said that, what's the chances of the PL being being restarted on 04/04/20?

I'll give it 50/50, but I think Liverpool might be denied. [can't wipe this grin off my face].

I cannot see how Euro 2021 can be fitted in, as there´s supposed to be a World Cup months later in Qatar. Just scrap internationals until the Autumn of 2022 to lessen the pressures on trying to complete this season, and starting next season weeks after the completion of this one whenever that may be.

Re: Peter Whittingham. Very sad news!!

PS: I was out and about on Sunday, with Benji when I saw this lady fall over on the corner of the pavement and into the road. Luckily, there was no traffic and she was more fortunate than Whittingham as she fell on her legs and fractured her left one. Her husband and herself stopped their car to say thanks for helping her.

    Screw Football.
I've never said that before, but I mean it.
We are now deeply rooted in a crisis. And I don't see this blowing over in six months.
