They clearly have the best team, so they shouldn't be scared to go again next term. If there is a next term.

I see one of our football geniuses makes an appearance in that beeb article:

Truro City were top of the Southern League Premier Division South and eyeing a return to the National League South.

Manager Paul Wotton feels the FA have treated lower-league sides differently to how they will deal with professional sides.

"The bottom line is Liverpool would take the FA to court, we haven't got the money to do that," he told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"I genuinely believe there's an element of 'no-one down there's going to kick off about it, they'll be upset for a couple of days but they'll get on with it'."

"I understand at the minute there's more important things in the world going on and it's a horrific time for so many people, but without sounding selfish we're devastated by the decision."

And you can't come up with many arguments against him.

I still suspect what's more likely for the EPL and EFL is that they will finish the league at some point, whenever that may be. What may get cancelled is NEXT season. or at least it may look quite different for a season.

This is my understanding. If this is the case, it will be a kick in the teeth for Liverpool and the likes of Leeds too. As far as Saints are concerned, it will probably mean that the league will not become harder with the promotion of Leeds and WBA and you can envisage the same teams being involved in a relegation scrap.

Part of me feels sorry for Liverpool as they were pipped by Man City last season when they would have been crowned champions had it not been for the brilliance of Guardiola. The league would have been won by Liverpool by now if circumstances had been different and I think the competition will be declared void and rob them of success. Quite how this will affect them next season will be interesting. I am of the opinion that Man Utd have turned the corner and think there will be three teams vying to win the league next season. You can imagine Liverpool finding it difficult to pick themselves up if they are denied silverware this season.

If the season is abandoned, I think the only winners will be the lawyers. It will be interesting to see how this pans out.

Locally, it is a disappointment because Winchester City have finished fourth and have now been informed that the annulment of the league means no play-off place. At least Craig Davis has confirmed that he will still be in place as manager. I have enjoyed watching his style of football over the last few seasons more than some of the incumbents at St Marys!

The reports yesterday suggested that a number of premiership teams want the season abandoned and I believe this is going to be discussed on 3rd April

Several teams I feel for...and one I don't :)...but may be the most sensible. May even be good for us...I don't really think we'd be in trouble, but I do just have a niggle that we could be caught cold and every team below us goes on a winning streak. But that's just being a Saints fan in isolation. :)

I look at it this way. Liverpool will suffer a cruel blow, many non league clubs will fold.
    There is no comparison.
Truro City have had the most tumultuous ten years with dodgy owners and promises. And now this. A devastating blow. While the rest weep for L'pool, my sympathies stay with the real victims of this crisis.

Need 14 teams to favour it for it to even be considered.
