Someone was talking about Hamilton's luck earlier. I wouldn't always agree but when the dust has settled he came away with another pole for his records and an increased lead in the championship. That's not terrible result for a bad weekend.
Toto had a bad day in the office. When interviewed he said the lesson was not to be distracted by entertaining people. There were no smiles from Toto, not much to smile about. The Merc CEO looked to have a lot to say post race. I might be wrong, this weekend might crystalise in a reevaluation of life by Toto. No idea what the Merc boss was saying but Toto wasn't smiling. At the end of the day, many of those who crashed were the best the sport has. Toto has had loads to smile about this year so he can take a hit. Agree with JC, add Canada to that list and Bahrain kept us entertained. Nearly half of the races have entertained us. Following his win, I think you can rule out Verstappen having a break clause he can exercise, although it may not be linked to wins, rather than engine performance.
Mercedes themselves did little wrong, everything calamitous that happened was as a result of their drivers crashing. Hamilton's 50sec pitstop looked bad, but they weren't expecting him for either tyres or a front wing so nothing was ready and it was at the stage where the inter/sott tyre decision had not been made. I don't think all the costumes really affected the performance over the weekend, they were still fast, but both drivers had an off day on Sunday. For them, the shame of it being in front of the top brass and on a historically important weekend is probably where the embarrassment is coming from.
Great quote from Wolff about learning from what went wrong in Germany. "You never go home and say 'why the f*** did we win?', you go home and say 'why the f*** did we lose?'"
They did send him out on softs as a reaction when it wasn’t working. Sent Bottas out on Mediums when it clearly wasn’t working for Verstappen. I’m being hyper critical though. Merc didn’t quite have the luck in lottery conditions.
Interesting point from Hulkenberg . The bit of tarmac he had an issues with ( Slid off ) is the Hockenheim drag strip . Totally different type of surface . Go to approx. 24:25
Just listening to the BBC post race pod-cast . Apparently the German GP was the one race MB allowed Netflix to Film . As the BBC suggested , perhaps MB will let them film another race
depnds what it is he doesn;t want seen, he says 'I won't let them show me being sick', which is fair tbh.
Ah yes . Physically sick I agree with 100% , sorry . I just think we are talking sneezing fits , having hand maidens bathe him in goats milk … sorry .. got to go ..
