My main hope is that Americans tend not to like Matchplay, they are much more attuned to stroke play competitions. Probably grasping at straws here.
The main thing that will stop the yanks is their own egos. Europe just needs to play steady golf and at least 3 of the americans will implode
The cracks are already showing in the US team with Brooks Koepka not attending the US team get together. There are real issues in that team with many not liking each other at all. If Europe can get a decent lead after the 2nd day, I fancy our chances, but if its close, I think they will win. Should be a great weekend whatever.
There will be very few Europe fans to cheer the team on... Although that did not seem to affect the Ladies!
Same as every time (almost). We need a lead going into singles as the Americans are not a 'team' but instead full of individuals. They usually do better at the singles on their home turf.
No medal for me today, my g'son has a high temperature and tested positive for Covid19. The rest of us tested negative. I think the rules say I could go out and about, but as I usually play with some other old codgers... I think it's best i just stay home and look after the g'kids for a few days.
I am pretty optimistic about our chances. The US team looks loaded with top ranking players but there really isnt much between them over 18 holes. It is fine margins. I also think they get it wrong with so many captains picks. Our lads have earned it and that counts for something. I think the course might even things out a bit too, no wide fairways and accuracy will be rewarded. The US players never win a PGA there. Would have liked Rose over Poulter but he might well prove me wrong and get right under their skin. It will be a great few days, although their crowd will no doubt spoil my viewing with their ridiculous behaviour. But I hope Brooks and DeChambeu bump into each other too many times - how Stricker manages that I dont know...
Just watched some of the practice from yesterday....Europe laughing, joking and very relaxed...hardly a smile to seen from the Americans....Hope its the same vibe on Sunday night
Can't even watch it. I'm stuck up North, drove up to pick up the wife, decided to stay until 29th. Didn't give the Ryder cup a second thought, but now I know it's on I will have to explore every avenue to at least see some of it even if it's just highlights. The television channels up here are crap, sorry not even that good, Thai, thai, thai, or Thai, very little or nothing in sports, OK the odd premier game but that's about it. Woe is me!!!!!
Predictions anyone? Personally I think the USA will run out winners by 3 points; they are so strong. Hope I'm wrong.
Sadly, looking at the teams I tend to agree with you. I'll be happy if we are still in with a chance come the singles. Massive underdogs.
Would have been gutted if Spieth had fallen in the water and they'd cut away from it. Hell of a shot from where it was.
