Bit harsh to say he bottled it. Putts didn't drop like yesterday but if someone shoots 64 to win there's not a lot you can say other than well played Cam Smith.
Credit must go Cameron Smith, he hit 8 under on the day. Mcllroy was 2 under on the day and would have needed to hit 5 under to beat him. I get that conditions were benign but that was a special round from Smith.
You can't deny that Smith played a hell of a round but I reckon Rory played it safe today. Maybe the putts didn't fall like they did previously but when someone in the group ahead of you is closing in on your score you need to react, I don't think he did
Had a free £5 this morning on bet365. Backed Cameron Smith at 12/1 which was nice but I'd rather Rory won though.
I think you are right and Mcllroy initially played it safe, I think his problem was him and Hovland were 4 shots ahead of the pack coming into the final round and I guess they thought it was a head to head and they only had to hit a decent sub par round for one of them to win. Hovland fell away, Smith was on the charge and Mcllroy struggled for birdies. I would rather applaud Smiths round than criticise Mcllroys
well said. On another day some of those birdie putts drop and it’s a different result. But Cam Smith is one of the best out there at the mo with the flat stick. Makes it look so easy
Fantastic tournament. A classic. Cam Smith playing the round of his life. A 2 under par means Rory didn’t bottle it. Just accept that what we saw in Smith was something exceptional What a putter!!
Not massively into Golf, There's a player I've never heard of has been offered 350 million to join that Saudi organisation. Millionaires getting richer and the lads at the bottom can't get a sniff.
Sadly LIV golf is splitting golf apart right now....but....if you were a golfer ( an independent trader) and someone offered you $100m simply to take part in your tour...i'm sure you or anyone else would think about it..in my case ...about a nano second. They are offering crazy money, if Cameron Smith make the jump to LIV, I think it will open the floodgates...lets see
Be interesting to see which TV company pick it up, goes against the grain of Sky with their present attitude. 8 events this year, what are they going to do for the rest of the time if they cannot play in other tours?
