The weather has pushed me into making this thread a bit early. But it's certainly time to make use of the garden. As always I want to know what you're cooking and drinking in the small outdoors.
Did a bbq yesterday. Will have another at some point this week. Though haven’t got many chicken thighs left. mice got prawns big ****ers, chicken wings, mince beef, shot sausages which I will if I remember try boiling them first.
I have tub of jerk seasoning. I’ve only ever eaten it once whilst stoned out my brain 20 years ago in handsworth. There were a load of massive dudes outside a pub with oil drum bbq’s making it. Thought I was going to get shot as I walked upto them wearing a suit.
At the moment there's no BBQ's for me as The old one is done after finishing it's life cremating the hamster. I was having the garden dime and planning on a new BBQ but of course I can't now. This is what I'm getting. Weber Master Touch. Got a good reputation, I'm also going to stop using the coals from the shop and start using wood chips so that you don't get the after taste of the fuel on the charcoal.
My mate makes his own. he soaks them in apple juice or water with cheap whiskey. is that a proper smoker or one that is meant to be both? Mine is a dual fuel so a charcoal smoker on the one side. Though proper smokers are meant to have a place for water somewhere above the heat source. if you are bbq and ya meat tastes of lighting stuff you’re cooking on it too soon. I’ve never had that when I’ve done it.
I always feel there a hint of it no matter how long you wait. The one In buying is charcoal only but I'm getting a smoking box to go with it. They're cheap enough.
I’ve had a Weber for years, they’re sound. Mine’s about ****ed now though, so need to invest in a new one and that one will probably be it.
I’d like a good smoker. My mates has a rotisserie and he does beef joints over a 6 hour smoke. Comes out looking more cured than cooked.
