Nines, you absolute ****, thiz is a killer thread for us old musos. Impossible to not list a batch of killer intros, you set this one running Should i stay or should I go I bet that you look good on the dance floor Kashmir Walk this way - run dmc version Pump up the volume Lets go crazy I love rock n roll But nothing beats the complete filth of the Stones Can't you hear me knockin', a completely dirty pre-grunge run into decadence
I wasn't familiar with this song, I've just had a listen and I like it. Can't beat a good drum intro.
He has clearly ripped off A-Ha's The Sun Always Shines On TV, if you listen from 20 secs you can hear A-Ha's intro.
I used Fox on the Run in the music round ( it had an animal theme to it ) in a pub quiz I hosted recently. It was only then that I realised it was quite a good intro for that sort of genre.
This is a great one. It reminds me of when I was a kid. They used to play it at White City Stadium before the speedway in the late 70's.
I've seen the Aussie Floyd band too - so good they played at Dave Gilmore's wedding (if I remember that one right). I will, playfully, say it's a bit self indulgent having your own music played though. Echoes would be my favourite Pink Floyd intro but not my choice for this thread...
There are so many killer intros, especially from the 70's and 80's. New Dawn Fades is right up there for me.
For obvious reasons, the guitar part gets overlooked on that song. When I played the drums, I was self taught but when in my twenties I thought I'd learn properly so that I could read drum notation. The bloke I went to ( Lloyd Ryan ) also taught Phil Collins and In the air tonight was the first song I learnt with him. It was really difficult to play correctly. The second was sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel which was surprisingly more difficult.
