A well thought out and thoroughly good answer as always mate. The reason I mentioned timescale is because the film I mentioned talks about it. Mel Brooks discusses how one of his films made fun of the murder and torture of Jews during the Inquisition and that was deemed acceptable as it was hundreds of years ago. It also talks of ‘Taboo’ subjects that exist still, Mohammed being a prime example...and the fact that making jokes about Mohammed are liable to get you killed. I also think a factor could be WHO tells the joke.....is it acceptable for Jews to tell a Holocaust joke but not a Christian.......can a black man tell a Black joke but not a white man ? As you say it’s a real personal thing and none of us our right or wrong in our boundaries....I guess it’s just the way we all are. One thing I do now want to see is ‘The Producers’......any film that can have ‘Springtime for Hitler‘ in it looks ok for me. I really would recommend The Last Laugh........pleasure as always debating and discussing with you.
