It's been a tad quiet on here lately, AJs got a new field to play in and Jenny is not speaking at the moment.
we have had problems wit the pipes. ale and lead piping can cause problems. your executive committee are looking into it. one thing we do know is that all ale is passed by management! even our pole dancers cissy 58 and doris 62 cannot bring in an audience.
your executive committee are proud to announce the reopening of the club tonite at 7pm. tomorrow all club cards to be shown and any guests with black country accents may be asked to prove their identity,. ales on tap bathams best taylors landlord wye valley butty bach hobsons town crier lagers and ciders available food betty swallocks available as usual.
Don't know Town Crier but otherwise the slection is getting a bit 'safe'....branch out and get the crowds in with a mini-beer festival.....VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE.
Town Crier is a lovely on the slightly hoppy side. Salopian Oracle is hopefully in the cellar ready for serving. Did find a lovely pint called Mallinsons Cascade when I had a night out in chester a while back, Huddersfield brewery.
Nice one Matster..... Will look out for those. Marstons are doing the single hop series again.....nice NZ one!
Our local B&M had the Single Hops bottled ales in during summer. Thought I'd come back again and get some... all sold out when I returned, suppsedly the Polish one was great. Never thought I'd say that about a Marstons drink, used to love Pedigree as a teenager. Salopian are causing positive ripples with their bottled ales - Black Ops, Automaton and Kashmir AJ if you see it down your way then try St Austell Clouded Yellow, a bottled ale that I have been told good things about.
Robinsons do a nice bottled ale called 'Trooper' it's referring to Iron Maiden song which refers to Battle of Balaclava! Seriously nice ale and at 4.7% won't cause delusions that STFC can end up in top half of the table! Enjoy!
not a great lover of st austell ales or bottled beers. the bottled ale i do like is taylors landlord, but it has to be opened and allowed to breath for 30 mins.
Matster, the hop/malt balance is good. Not overly flowerly but enough richness of malt to leave nice taste in mouth. The 4.7% is just about right, less would destroy balance and more would take it too far from a nice bottled ruby/red. AJ, I prefer the draft Landlord.....never had a bad one. If you can find them, TT do two other good ales (red and yellow pump labels as opposed to Landlord's green) a light one and a light coloured one. The Mustard Pot just off the trans-Pennine road from north Sheffield to Manchester....found it by accident, there was a wedding reception and the friendly locals offered me food ......and a free pint!!.....and it was a TT I hadn't had......hooray! The Robinsons Old Tom with ginger (bottled) at only 6% might go down well on Xmas Day......it's an acquired taste but well worth persevering. Not as sleep inducing as regular Old Tom.....which as a draft is usually sold in halves near its home in Stockport. Keep the reports coming in.....always worth a read and a sip. Loggerheads may even widen its choice of guest ales! As an aside, a real know-all at our local pub quiz in Derby didn't know what a loggerhead was.......I warned them that AJ may come round and explain it to them along with the story of Everton's recovery of it logo and bit of latin.
