Not just the owners me thinks, but not mentioning a name or names, because i am now looking forward very much to the new dawn under the present regime.
i predict a mid table position, then a steady improvement in the seasons their after. In other words back to plan A at the start of the Bielsa era only this time we will not make the same horrendous mistakes.

 

But you look at Bruce who managed the likes of Birmingham, Sunderland and Wigan before getting the Newcastle job and when he sacked from Newcastle they were in the bottom 3. I think Gerrard is using his connections and name perfectly. Howe is an unbelievable talent that should never have been fired from Bournemouth.

Our lad has got something the big names haven't got an that is that he's done it he's roughed it out in the MLS and the Austrian League. Let's take Bielsa he went to clubs like Lazio and Real Betis but HE FAILED at these clubs.

 

Our lad certainly accomplished the first part of his job impressively using someone else’s toolbox and tools

 

No he wasn't. He was struggling to come to terms playing as a 10 in the Championship. He looked bang average. Only when Bielsa put him at DM which gave him more space to work in did Phillips look like a guaranteed first team starter.

Prior to that it was 50/50 whether Ronaldo Viera was the better prospect.

My view is KP and Rap should be soldthis window and the money put iinto the squadalthough I fear that will no happen and the money will go to Rad

You hot the nail on the head there. Pre-Bielsa he was appalling. He'd spent years hovering round the first team and got nowhere. The likes of Mowatt and Viera over took him and then interested other clubs.

 

I agree on KP. He's been overhyped because he's from Leeds and hence we've all warmed to him more than others. Pivotal in Bielsaball but faded away over the last two seasons. I'd prefer a CDM and CAM instead. To be fair, England look better when Grealish is on as he's a playmaker.

 

Not sure it can be called ‘roughing it out’ in the MLS, where there is no relegation, nor in Austria, managing the richest club in the country.

 

Where are you getting 5 million for Costa, Firpo and Kiko if we sold them this summer? 2 million for Roberts? Mate this ain't 1999 we can get a fair whack of money for them when O'Brien's asking price is £10 million.

 

Compared to Pep who managed Barca, Bayern and City or Bielsa who jumped for Glamour league to glamour league basically failing everywhere he's been. He's done his 'time' in the crappier leagues. Not everybody gets a clear route to success or plays on his name and reputation.

 

All you massive fans of Gerrard and Howe seem to forget about the £100m Howe was given in January to save the season, or how Coutinho was brought into the Villa camp on wages of over £200k per week, or the other players he brought in.. knowing ghe prem is one ghing but having cash to buy top players is another thing

 

There's having £100 million to spend and then there's £100 million to piss up the wall. Dean Smith bought the likes of Bailey and Ings and got nowhere and let's not forget to 100 other players he bought since they got promoted. Howe identified the problems he had and bought the players he needed.

 

I agree. I can certainly see us 12th next season

 

Oh you have a short memory. Viera was becoming a fans favourite at the time and even had a chant for him and Philips was going to be let go. But Viera was sold much to the disgust of a lot of supporters at the time. Bielsa made Philips.

 

Bit of midfield ground here.

Phillips had improved prior to bielsa. He was dire when he first came into the team but he’d put in some decent if inconsistent performances the year before bielsa came. He was still young so you would expect natural improvement whoever managed him.

That said, bielsa recognised his attributes to play dm, and his improvement under bielsa was massive.

 

Why would we want wingers ?
Jesse doesn't play with wingers.

Rodrigo needs to move on (as does Roberts Btw).

We need a striker who can, if necessary, play on his own up front.
