Good Morning. It's Wednesday 16th June, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Sky Sport Pundit rips into tabloid following Phillips admission Sky Sports pundit Aaron Mclean has ripped into the Daily Mail over a story they published about Kalvin Phillips recently. Obviously, since his man of the match performance, everyone is talking about him or to him. Instead of concentrating on a difficult child hood where Kalvin had to make do with free school dinners and his mother going hungry so her siblings could have an evening meal; the Daily Mail concentrated the headline on the fact that Kalvin's father is in prison! Pundit McClean, formerly of Bradford and Peterborough took to social media to express his anger towards the tabloid paper:- “The Daily Mail is an absolute disgrace. “Instead of heaping praise on Kalvin Phillips, a young man representing the country and doing an amazing job, you want to dig up dirt on his family. “You’re an absolute embarrassment!” If you are a celebrity, are you fair game for the media to dredge up any past misdemeanors? Do the privacy laws in the UK need to be stricter, so not to allow journalists to twist the truth to mislead the public, or should there be free speech? please log in to view this image What if....... It's fair to say that out of the seven players Leeds have on International duty, only Kalvin Phillips has made a significant splash! His man of the match performance against Croatia saw his valuation soar above 60m, double the price we sold Rio Ferdinand for back in 2002. Should Phillips continue in his rich vein of form, his worth will increase. 100m for Phillips - take it or leave it. If you took it, the 100m plus this years kitty of 70m will be reinvested in players. If rejected, it shows the rest of the World that we are not a selling club! please log in to view this image Cornet on Leeds radar The Sun, and David Anderson of The Mirror have both reported that Leeds have held initial talks over Lyon's left back Maxwel Cornet. The 24yo started his career as a forward, but has been transformed into a quality left back. His pace and skill down the left flank has caught the attention of Messrs Orta and Bielsa. but will not be progressing forward with the purchase unless Lyon lower their financial expectations! Cornet started his youth career at Metz in 2004, and represented France in every age group from Under 16 to (and including) U 21's. Since then, Cornet has pledged his allegiance to the Ivory Coast, who he has represented 21 times! Currently Lyon want 20m, whilst Leeds believe 10-12m to be more accurate. please log in to view this image
So it's scum away first game of the season. Now don't take this the wrong way, but that early pic of Philips reminds me of the old Robertsons jam jars with those pics on.
Morning all In regards to Cornet the Lyon fans are tweeting they’ll drive him to the airport themselves, they don’t rate him in the slightest which is a concern if we truly are interested. I’d hope we were aiming for better. I’d not sell Philips or any player of importance, it’s very hit and miss when you spend big money on new players and when we have a budget to spend already why should we sell?
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/s...ro-Euro-2020-sport-pampered-millionaires.html This is the headline of the above article. What’s so wrong with it? It’s states that his dad is in prison, but it’s just a small aside, and something most of us probably didn’t know. So a snippet of news in an article about Phillips. The left wing hate mob moaning as usual The making of Kalvin Phillips, England's latest football hero: His mum had to sleep on the family sofa, he has had the same girlfriend since he was 11 and his dad is in prison as he takes Euro 2020 by storm
Looks like WBA are giving the managers job to a Spaniard who has been managing in China. The Director of Football left on Monday because the Chinese owners were not taking his advice. Loved that Tom Petty track “Freefalling”
The problem with our media can do some serious damage to footballers. Gazza was extreme but we see how fast a great performance at a World Cup or Euros can make a player a household name. Stories about him on breakfast telly, magazine articles on his life, hello magazine, news stories etc. Some players start to believe the hype so I hope the club and his agent Kevin Sharpe can ground him etc. There are already stories about Real Madrid etc……….. one bad pass and the press will slaughter him and his family
The wokies hate the article because it's shows that his black dad was locked up while his white mum and gran did all the work raising him Not a judgement btw, just a statement of fact.
Serious question: Do you think its harder/tougher/worse today for young black kids to break away from gangs etc than it was years ago. I remember playing school football against the very good black player that Foxwood had. He was Terry Connor and we all know what happened with him and I was screaming like a loony when he came on as a sub at ER and scored on his debut. So we know how his career went, and we also know whats happened to Kalvin and Malik Wilks who pribably lost out at Leeds because of a bit of trouble with mates and a knife….. we also know about another former academy player who lost his brother in Harehills when he was shot not long ago
It's easier today Doc. Everyone has the same opportunities. There's no longer any discrimination. Each person, be it black or white, make their own choices in life. Too easy to blame 'gang culture' for Wilks' failure to make it at Leeds - he just wasn't good enough, but he's still doing ok and earning a few grand a week.
