Do you know I really rate Nicky Maynard and like all of us I don't want him leaving,he is a cracker, then I realise he is a player with a career and I'm just a fan, suffering from hero worship, the club has to survive and it will do it with or without Nicky Maynard. All the Crewe fans must have had the same emotions when we got him from Crewe and time moves on,now it's us,it's our turn,I then thought back over my time as a supporter of Bristol City FC,looked up some details and this all came back.. We have had some brilliant strikers or goalscorers in my time.. John Atyeo 351 Tom Ritchie 132 Alan Walsh 99 John Galley 91 Scott Murray 91 Glyn Riley 77 Tony Thorpe 61 Wayne Allison 59 Bob Taylor 58 Gerry Gow 54 Chris Garland 53 also.... Sean Goater 43 Andy Cole 20 Nicky Maynard 32 There are other iconic names not mentioned but I've just listed goals scored, all these heroes passed into time and we have still progressed as a club. If he wants to go,let him go and rise to the level he desires, make the club some money and who is that coming down the track.... Bret Pitman,John Stead,Albert Adomah,Yannick Bolasie...You never know. Nicky stay or go it's been a pleasure but Up the City..
Yep let's put this to bed, sign a extension with a get out clause,we can all be happy then.but seriously Maynard is a gonner let get used to it.he will not be with us cone the season start.
One in,one out,easy come,easy go,one man don't make a team,yea and all that,I still think he is a cracker..
So do I Wize, but I can't spend any emotional sentiment on something I cant control. just my opinion. any criticism of him would be "could work harder" for me.
Blimey banksy - "I can spend any emotional sentiment on something I cant control" (I presume that means can't btw) If so, then I've been telling that exact thing to my boy for years, and it's something I've lived by for a long time aswell. Anyway, if Maynard does go then I agree with you both, we'll move on. It could be worse, we could be in a position where we have to sell our whole squad because we've been relegated
Do you think he will leave. We have been linked with a 2M plus add ons bid for him Does he want to leave and do you think he would want to sign for us
i don't think he will go to you mainly cos he wants to be in the premier league and £2 mill will be a loss and it would make no sense to make a loss on him
All we know is that he hasn't signed a new contract. Boatloads of speculation about though, your media speculation will alert Maynard and his agent for sure, though the simple answer is no-one knows.
Nicky could be going and is this our replacement,Ryan Taylor....It looks as if we've won the race to sign him... http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11726_6992559,00.html
I have never got over Shaun Goater leaving us when we were so close to winning the title, he left and we went up as second, and he got relegated with Man City. Turned out alright for him in the end though, but I cant help but wonder if he would have stayed with us would we have ended up where Man City are now. The guy fired them straight back up to the Prem through two divisions. Nearly 15 years I have been holding that grudge, now I feel like I can let it go. If Nicky moves to LCFC then fires them to the Prem i will start all over again.
'we could be in a position where we have to sell our whole squad because we've been relegated' You mean someone BOUGHT our squad.....wish that were true! 'would we have ended up where Man City are now'
No chance Leicester,2 million would not buy his left leg,the guy will go to the prem that is where he wants too play.5 million is the starting price let's the bids come in,remember he is under contract for twelve more months.
If a premier league team wanted him then they would have last season after he scored liek 20+ 13 games last season. If he replicates the same again then your 5m asking price would be worth 380k per game over one season. That, for a championship striker, is actually ridiculous. Do you HONESTLY think that that is worth it? Wake up, smell the coffee. 2m is more than enough.
1 year left on his contract, and if he has a good season again this year, he'll be going for nothing, good business sense
"http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/Striker-Maynard-sale-insists-Bristol-City/story-12794140-detail/story.html As somebody said," whenever you hear "hands off" or "he's not for sale" - he's off!” I don't know how serious Colin is.and if he's just waffling....
we did manage without him last season for a long time, but then we had the the 3 loanee's so a bit of a false season as our squad became desimated when it ended, ON a score of 1 to 10 10 best I would give NM 8.5 Steady and Pits 8.0 based on last seasons last 8 games HOW MUCH WILL CREWE GET??????
