Sunderland and are showing interest in Sheffield United defender Ben Heneghan, Sky Sports News understands. The 25-year-old centre-back is currently on loan at Blackpool but has made only two appearances for them and can be recalled. Blackburn, who were keen to sign him before he joined the Blades from Motherwell in 2017, are also still interested. Heneghan has made only one appearance for Sheffield United since arriving – in the FA Cup – and he sees his contract at Bramall Lane expire in the summer.
From our Sunderland writer Phil Smith: "Maja says he wants to stay. He also trains like it, plays like it and scores goals like it. The 20-year-old is exceptionally grounded, humble and seemingly completely unaffected by weeks and months of intense speculation. Yet the impasse has dragged on and that has created significant doubt behind the scenes as to whether a move elsewhere is in the offing. “I suppose that’s why I always thought he would stay,” Jack Ross said. “How he is, how he is with me, but as I’ve said before that there’s external factors that go on and take my opinion out of it a bit. “But he’s just a really good, really nice young man. “He’s got a great temperament, he takes on a lot of information from us. “You can see him then using that on the pitch."
****ing ridiculous. Hate agents and I'm not fond of players who don't have the balls to control their own decisions.
