Nick Barmby has been sacked, Does this mean he could take over from Malky when the owners of Cardiff City realise they are not in the Premiership. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17927073
Looking at the reasons behind their proposal to change colours from blue to red, I would say Cardiff's owners are treating it as promotion or "bust" (whether bust means financial oblivion or a mass change on the football side remains to be seen). Malky will surely be Cardiff manager next season, but I think he'll get the sack if they don't go up.
Seeing a few Cardiff fans on SSN, one of them suggested that if they change to red they'd have to change the colours on the stadium. Interesting that this news has come out the day after it was announced that Cardiff Blues are going back to the Arms Park.
Just seen this and wonder what will be coming our way. http://www.theweek.co.uk/football/46841/anger-and-ridicule-over-man-uniteds-new-gingham-kit
The Tartan Army may be up in arms over that one. I don't think that we have to fear any colour changes - what with Bas having dug deep to pay for a new sign for our new pub.
There is always talk of players who leave a promoted club to go to another and get quickly promoted again with the second club to the Premiership. Three times promotions Malky Mackay did that with West Ham United Norwich and us and possibly Steven Dobbie Blackpool twice perhaps and Swansea are even rarer. I think Hermann Hreiðarsson needs a thought. He was with Portsmouth this season but was loaned to Coventry City. How many players can say they were relegated two times in the same season from the same division?
Paul Scholes has effectively been ruled out of the Olympic squad. Man Utd have said that Ryan Giggs is the only overage player who will be eligible for Team GB selection (clubs do not have to release anyone for the Olympics).
And I thought we'd had an unstable summer or two recently. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18024194
The thoughts for today. If Manchester United are to become champions Queens Park Rangers will stay in the premiership. If Manchester City are champions and Stoke City do not lose QPR stay in the premiership, but if Stoke City and QPR lose then QPR are a championship club next season. My head hurts.
I'm a massive Graham Westley fan. If he sees something he doesn't like, he acts decisively to do something about it. If he sees someone not pulling their weight, he will either straighten them out, or publicly show them up for the lazy, overpaid ****s that they are. He is not someone to blow smoke up the backsides of people in the boardroom, but he has been very complimentary about Preston's chairman, praising his work ethic etc. All of that said, I have seen the word "psychopath" used in the same sentence as his name, and it's difficult to argue with that up to a point. I can't help feeling that he has gone a little bit too far this time. Then again, I suppose Preston have little to lose. It's unthinkable that Westley will assemble a squad that ends up much lower than 15th.
Joey Barton's tweets since the match have been unbelievable! He's basically said that a team mate told him, after he got the red, to try and get someone sent off, so he did! If he's playing for QPR next season i'll be shocked!
McLeish claimed a few days ago that a "silent majority" were in favour of him continuing at Villa Park. And he was right. Fans of other relegation-threatened teams were desperate for him to stay there.
I put this in the club news as two Watford football players are involved but not for Watford. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...ews/9704371.Watford_duo_called_up_by_Jamaica/
