And we think our referees are bad... A couple of stills from last night's Rangers v Malmö match. On the right, Rangers keeper is clearly handling the ball outside of his area to deny the Malmö forward a goalscoring opportunity - should have been a red card, but the ref just awarded Malmö a free kick. On the left, Malmö player Innocent Bonke got sent off for this tackle. He's the player on the receiving end.
On the Prem forum there appears to be a sense of impending doom at Everton due to the appointment of Rafa Benitez and the lack of strengthening to the team Not helped by Liverpool supporters (the scallywags) putting out rumours that Richalwaysonmyarseson is on his way to Inter Milan Southampton and Spurs supporters are despondent as well Could be fun this season
In recent seasons, I have thought that team (squad) spirit wasn't worth much in the Prem. The sheer gaps in class decided most outcomes. But maybe I was wrong - I hope so as I think Xisco has engendered a good spirit - and bearing in mind the players realised after Coventry away (last season) that they needed to be 'together' I think we might do better than most others think. Interesting also that the club has taken a firm line with Hughes. I'm sad but I think it's right. We put up with doucoure not trying too hard Capoue being unenthusiastic and GD being very moody, , however much he did for us. COYH !!
I think you're right overall, but I think it can make a crucial difference when you're thinking about the mini-leagues of six or so teams within the league. It can make the difference between 18th and 17th.
The sad thing for Arsenal is that you aren't really surprised. Hardly recognise many of their players which says a lot. Brentford would have been licking their lips at this for a first game.
There will be many teams looking at the fixtures and hoping they play Arsenal before they have chance to get sorted.
And their team are paying for it on the pitch - currently down 3-1. Serves them right... Edit: And now 5-1.
So in other words it's still useless. During Friday's Brentford match, the Arsenal keeper was clearly fouled just before the second goal - I thought at the time that VAR should have picked it up, but when it wasn't I assumed it wasn't being used for some reason.
