Could the tires come into play again here? Merc claim ashplat is similar to Singapore and with the same tires in use, could we see the Merc's struggle again? However, this is more of a power track than Singapore and if they can't heat up their tyres to the correct temps going round turn 3, then they will be in trouble!! Closer battle than last year me thinks, but the Merc's should edge it, 1-2, most likely Hamilton leading Rosberg home, again.. and Merc picking up the WCC!
Mercedes were saying earlier in the week they are worried about how this turns out. But hey if there cars are closer to the pack maybe their sponsors will get some coverage
The German car manufacturer elected to use all its remaining engine development tokens at the Italian Grand Prix to deliver an upgraded engine for works drivers Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. The power unit utilised new fuel concepts that were introduced with a view to a 2016 development path. Williams, Force India and Lotus had hoped to be able to get hold of the upgraded power unit towards the end of this season, in a bid to help their constructors' championship prospects. But after evaluating the engineering demands of producing the parts, and eager to ensure that all its customers were treated equally, Mercedes has come to the conclusion that it cannot deliver enough components for the teams. It means that the fourth engines of the season that most of its drivers are using this weekend are the old specification, meaning only the Mercedes works outfit will have the updated specification this year. Sergio Perez said that Force India was not too disappointed at not being able to get the upgraded engines. "At the moment all we have heard is that they are checking reliability to see if it is working well," he said. "We are not planning to get any of the full spec for the rest of the year – but hopefully for next year we will. "What we have heard from Mercedes is that it is not that big a step forward, so the team is not too concerned about not getting the engine."

To explain for visitors to this forum... EternalMSC's post was probably a comment on some courageous driving during practice.
Well, those two sessions were worth it.. I feel sorry for the 42 fans that were in the stands.... FP3 Should be great, should see constant running throughout and most of the bigger teams will use most of Q1 for a an extended practice session.
A bit of dePR bullshitting, and the translation is as follows: "the new engine works great and is reliable, otherwise we wouldn't dare use it on our WDC chasing car and would wait until pre-season testing. In the meantime we don't want our competitors to have it in case they manage to get more out of it and steal points from us."

They should use their tokens to design quick release engine mounts, so that their pit stops can include an engine change.
