Feck off convict. This nothing to do with politics and the implications in buying cars, but if you want to talk about them, I'm your man. Have always driven BMW's since I sold my Rover 3500 SD1 back in the early 80's. Had a succession since then - all 5 and 6 series culminating in my X5 4.0 Sport. My wife also drove 5 series during the same time but a few years back bought herself an CLK AMG - great handling but the suspension was so hard it bounced down the road and made your teeth rattle. Since then she's changed it to a C Class CDI 250 - also an AMG sports but nothing like as harsh a ride as the CLK. Not my taste to be honest but it does what it says on the tin and she thinks it's great - it takes all sorts. Granted we should look more inwards when (if) we leave the EU but my neighbour bought an F Pace a few months back simply because he had always had Jags in the same way that I've bought BMWs. Been in it - and this is not being biased - it is not a patch on the X5. If I thought it was better then maybe I would consider one next time around because I've come to like this type of 4 wheel drive, but no chance on what I've seen. My next door neighbour works for Audi and brings various models home including a Q7 and I liked what I saw. He bulled it up (well he would wouldn't he) and it does look the business. Another guy across the road from me has a GLE and I've been driven in it but not driven it. Initial impressions suggested to me it was a class vehicle but I still wouldn't swap my X5. Had this car from new for about 18 months now but there's a new 2019 version just been launced - might have a look at that as a present - if we stay up.... All in all, we may have to change our ways in the forthcoming years - and then again we might not.
I think you are right on the F Pace, though I’ve not really looked into it. I think it’s quite a lot cheaper than the X5 anyway so not really a straight comparison. With German stuff these days you have to be careful as it’s not all great (applies to kitchen stuff as well as cars). Having owned a C class I don’t rate them at all (but I’ve had 3 E class and for what they are meant to be, they are good cars). On the general subject of buying British, ive always thought it good we are open to all countries stuff, but when/if we have to fend for ourselves - any Brexit this applies, not just no deal - we do need to realise other countries are often a lot less free market than we are. Maybe it’s no surprise most cars in Germany are German, as they make a lot of good cars, but.... last time I was in France I was struck how many buy French there, yet their cars are just ok, no more, so it’s obvious they have a ‘buy French’ attitude. This has got nothing to with my view that Brexit is a bad economic decision, even if I’m wrong about that I think we’ll be daft if we carry on not even thinking about where the stuff we buy is made.
There is that, and I can get to visit the important parts of the north more easily (clue - that’s not Crewe).
I think the French have always bee introspective when it comes to buying cars - that struck me many years ago when I was across there. The number of bashed up Renaults, Peugeots abd Citroens was amazing. The Eyties are much the same, or were anyway a few years back.
And we know where all there fans come from, yes you pass through Crewe on your train. You did also live there
Looks like people and businesses are not solely being exposed across the pond. 23rd Feb's GOING TO BE A BIG DAY IF tommy Robinson succeeds.
Think I've hit on something here, you doth protest too much, you do know scumchester aren't in Manchester either 6 years a manc ay,that's a long time.
Well......I'm not one of her greatest supporters but she has been asked to piss into the wind and stay dry, not really the easiest thing to do? So I'm told
I agree the BBC are losing their impartiality. They support the government line on everything, including their love of Brexit and packing programmes like Question Time with loads of unrepresentative far right activists. Surprised TR objects to this though.
