A school in rural Pennsylvania has become the first in the US to arm teachers and students in the event of a potential school shooter.

Yet while there's no doubt that, by tomorrow lunchtime, there's going to be yet another video of Dana Loesch telling her NRA TV brethren to rise up in the face of this great insult against Smith & Wesson and to cleanse the unbelievers in a sea of holy gunfire, there's the obvious point: with the obvious exception of somebody picking off students with a sniper rifle from half a mile away, a well-aimed rock to the face is more than enough to stop anyone with an AR-15 in their tracks, no matter what the NRA brainwash people into believing.

 

With these kids shooting up the schools,nobody has asked "Don't the parents suspect something or are they collecting guns like dear old dad?"

 

Sorry - but this wasn't written as poetry! It is a quote from one of his sermons*! So rhyming is not a high priority!

So this evening's updates from Planet Leave...

Former campaigner for the Leave campaign Shahmir Sanni has gone on the record as stating the campaign broke electoral rules on campaign spending and attempted to destroy the evidence - although, as we can all guess that will lead to a slap on the wrist, the real story is how the Dire Leader's political secretary Stephen Parkinson responded to news that a whistleblower was about to spill the beans: by threatening to publicly disclose Sunni's homosexuality in order to keep his mouth shut, and the reason Parkinson knew about this was because the two had secretly been partners for some time.

I'm sure the BBC will devote as much time to covering this story as their constant attempts to portray Corbyn and a Russian stooge for the past two weeks.

In other news, I see the NRA are responding to the mass protests against them with the level of tact, intellect and maturity that can be expected from low-level members of a doolally cult who obviously weren't listening to the question they were asked

 

Someone tell him the Indians have been wiped out.Guns not needed....except on yourself. The sooner,the better!

 

Looks like the UK and the EU are going it alone v Russia. They've lost confidence in the USA thanks to him that should remain nameless (and hopeless!)

 

Somehow it never occurred to the bellend that he was completely right: nobody should have heard of the Parkland kids or their former classmates, but the fact that they have highlights the problem far better than any sneering comment or video created to discredit them that NRA TV pump out to their cultists.

has well and truly begun on gun law.

Will be interesting to see, as the UK shows that
the 50+ age demographic tends to be more
conservative + likely to vote than kids.

But given the recent "Tea Party" malarky, it
would be some hubris by the Republican party
to presume that these kids collectively will/can
not do similar in the next elections.

 

Astute commentators have already said that
any "lovers tiff" aspect of this needs to be
done and dusted ASAP before dealing with
the real matter.

 

If anything this aspect shouldn't be pushed aside since it exposes that, for all the talk of reigning in the bullying tactics of the whips in the wake of last year's sleaze spreadsheet, the second something they don't want being revealed comes along the Tories' go-to response is to blackmail people to keep them compliant.

 

This outing was officially sanctioned by No10....... - this should be a major news item. Wonder why it isn’t.........

 

I am increasingly lost for words on the stuff that is coming out from the mouths of this Conservative Gov. It is only exceeded by the even greater nonsense coming from the government in the USA. When you add that to the new Mao in China, Putin in Russia, then mix in Poland, Turkey and various Eastern European ultra right regimes, sprinkle a little North Korea, Israel, and the Middle East in general then we have to be in a far worse situation than we were in 1914 or 1939.

 

Are we awaiting the big boom.....THE BIG BOOM! The earth is overpopulated anyway (they say!)

 

Too true, Leopold II get rid of 10 million, Hitler 6 million, numerous tin pot dictators over a million each, HIV countless millions and all together have not even scratched the surface. Now with the taxes on booze and smokes every fekker is going to live 20 years longer, something needs to happen. It will probably come from nature, a kind of super SARS, son of HIV or mega Ebola. So make the most of it while you can.
