Criticising a manager who comes in half way through the season to a struggling young side and is under the cosh from day one and struggling to find a way of playing (and winning) for not blooding 16 year olds instead of trying to find a winning combination and building some confidence is a step too far on the muck throwing scale for me. But each to their own. Hope we can all get behind him and the team now.
May I suggest that anyone who needs perking up heads over to the Grand Old Team forum. Reading the real-time reactions of Everton fans to deadline day is pretty amazing, especially the bits where Sulemana chooses Saints and we then get Onuachu in at the death too.
From an objective standpoint it will be interesting to see how Everton get on now in comparison to us. We've signed 5 new players. They've signed none? But they have brought in an experienced PL manager whilst we brought in an inexperienced PL manager a few months ago. Difficult to say but our players are probably a similar level. Maybe we both continue to be **** and both go down. Maybe the manager is by far the most important appointment a club in our positions can make. Or maybe the impetus of new players can have a bigger impact. Obviously not possible to make direct comparisons because there are so many factors involved but we currently sit on the same number of points so this is probably as close as we can get to a fair experiment.
Working my way through it now, starting a page 1400 @1:40pm (it's indeed tragicomic) BringBackBigSam said: "No decent player wants to sign for Dyche. A couple hard working championship Brexit lads from Yorkshire is the best we'll get in. Are we thinking Sulemana watched a lot of Jones when he was playing at Southend?
If I can be bothered later I’ll have a look at our squad and list it in terms of PL registration as it feels huge now. Was sure somebody would have to be leaving to fit in 5 new players, but to my knowledge nobody did
I don’t think anyone can really criticise for addressing things in this window. It’s just the myopic appointment of Jones that will ultimately cost us (I fear).
Yes, I'm sure that's right. Lavia, Tino, and Edozie are U21 and home grown. Probably others but as you say, there are so many I've lost track!
I am guessing that both were well down the Black Box list, but none of the preferred were available for various reasons. Even these were being tracked as soon as we expressed an interest.

A couple there surely will get no game time. McCarthy and Walcott spring to mind. Livramento as well due to his injury. But aside from that all the others have been playing reasonably regularly, and it’s not hard to see why it’s been so chop and change with such a large squad, a lot of which are of similar levels of ability
Thanks for doing that Magic, very useful. The sheer size of the squad also explains why rising stars like Jimmy Jay Morgan want away. Let’s hope this doesn’t come back to bite us long term. Maybe there will be a bit of a cull in the summer.
It will be interesting in the summer as I’m sure a few of the u21s will become of an age where they will need to be registered so we need a clear out if we are to bring in any new players. Im sure the Championship rules are different as well in terms of registration and match day squads if we do go down.
It really is outrageous how much money Chelsea have spent. They won't be able to register over half their signings for the Champions League for gods sake!
Actually just checked and all the u21s will still be u21 I think. If the rules are same as football manager then the player has to be 21 or younger on the 31 August 2023, which applies to all of our players
On that note, should we stay up, there is an opportunity to sign some of their fringe players in the summer like Gallagher or Broja.
I suspect that now we have two Ghanaians, two Nigerians and a Malian international that we have inherited a few new followers in Africa. I look forward to them mobbing the comment/reply sections of the Saints social media accounts
