Not been on the bike since Tuesday last week; need chain lubrication which I ordered but it only arrived Tuesday this week. Been busy in the garden since
There was a vicarious element to the bike rides that I was enjoying. Somebody doing the going out for me.
Weather's gone to **** innit so I haven't been out on the bike, not even to the shops ... been doing lots of walking, up to 10 miles a day, and some workouts indoors. Somehow describing your walk doesn't seem to have the same visceral sheen as a bike ride. But I've been walking all over, town and country both
Out of interest when someone's coming the other way is there an effort to social distance or do you still get the occasional shoulder charge?
Hmm, I do make the effort to put 2m there .. even though I don't think there's much point anymore, if there ever has been, I still do it. Most people aren't bothering now, there's the rare person who will definitely put the space there, the majority do a sort of perfunctory movement in some direction or just don't bother
I wondered whether those that are out walking are doing so because they're not concerned about going out anymore and/or never stopped going out or whether there's a new group - the 'newly released' -dramatically moving out of the way. Sounds like a mix of both.
I found people do tend to tru and maintain a distance if they can. Still find it amusing that we look away from the person or people we're passing as we pass by
Not impressed, 14 miles in 55 mins On mountain bike. Used to be a massive mountain biker,Coed y Brenin,Llandegla and Horseshoe pass were my riding grounds but that was when I was younger and still playing rugby and cycling 15 miles every night. Mate I used to ride with never stopped and often goes up to Llandegla on his SINGLE speed Trek
Used to go everywhere on the bike when I was a teenager but that's 20yrs ago now. Stopped as soon as I got a car I'm happy with a 12mph average, been around 10mph on most outings (drops to about 6mph when the eldest is with me), I don't think that's too bad for someone that's almost 40
